Obituary: Carlotta Valdez Ruiz, age 94, passed peacefully on 1, 2017 (Ash ) surrounded by all her children and grandchildren in Phoenix, Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband Francisco A. Ruiz and her two infant sons Mario and Jaime Ruiz, and her grandchildren Geraldine Rodriguez, Leo Rodriguez, Thomas Alfredo Ruiz, George A. Ortiz (great-grandson). Carlotta is survived by her sons Francisco (Mary) Ruiz, Ernesto (Jenny) Ruiz, Arturo (Lucy)Ruiz, Alfredo Ruiz, Thomas (Lana) Ruiz, Alberto (Bernice) Ruiz, Samuel (Helen) Ruiz, her daughters Angelita (Pete) Rodriguez, Juanita Ramirez, Anita (Robert) Stuart, and Ophelia (Rudy) Lopez, and 37 Grandchildren, 85 Great grandchildren, and 41 great-great grandchildren. Carlotta was the third born of sixteen children to Placido and Julia Valdez. She was born in the same house her father was born in and was raised on the historic Carlink Ranch in Redington, Arizona, where her father worked as a cattle rancher and farmer. As a child, Carlotta and her siblings attended the Redington school where she was educated by legendary acclaimed Arizona school teacher Eulalia Bourne. With great thanks to Ms. Bourne, Carlottas, along with her siblings, writings and poems can be viewed online in the Little Cowpuncher newspaper which is a Special Collection held by the University of Arizona. There one can learn about Carlottas family and their life on the ranch. Carlotta continued her ranch heritage here in the valley when she married her loving husband Frank in 1939 and moved to Tempe, Arizona, where she started her own family. Throughout the years, Carlotta lived a simple and humble life. She loved her family, adored her grandchildren, and her door was always open for them. She was very faithful, intelligent, charming, funny, a great cook, and had an amazing memory. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, sewing, making quilts, camping, and so much more. Telling stories of her younger years with her husband and family, and her childhood were her favorite pastime. And of course, her beloved Redington, in the San Pedro River valley northeast of Tucson, and the beautiful mountains that surrounded it she would never forget. Carlottas life was all about family. She is dearly loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Our beautiful mother, our sweet Nana Carly, our darling Tote, our hearts will remain broken until we are with you again in Heaven. In some places there is shade, in some parts there is sun. I love to sit outside in the warm sunshine when its clear and bright. But I love to see the lovely little clouds among the bigger ones. |

Obituary: Arthur Arvizu Ruiz Born - 06/19/1928 Died 09/21/2016 Arthur was one of five children born to George and Eloise Arvizu Ruiz of Globe Arizona. He has two living sister's Virginia M. Barela (Phoenix) and Florence Bosch (Sun City) and two deceased sisters, Stella Wilson (Globe) and baby sister Eva Betty who died in infancy (Globe). He was a quiet and caring man who took life with great ease. Although he never married he loved his sisters children as his own. In turn, he was loved and cherished as a father and grand-father figure by his sister's Virginia, Stella and Florence's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arthur graduated from Globe High School in 1947 and enlisted in the Army in 1952. He served in the Korean War and was Honorably discharged in 1956. Following his tour of duty, he moved to So. San Francisco CA along with his parents and other family members. For many years they all lived in the quaint town of Brisbane California, a little town tucked into a mountainside just outside of San Francisco. At Christmas time all the homes and businesses in Brisbane would display on their roof-tops, a big star, lit with Christmas lights. The City of Lights was a wonderful sight to see. He worked for Bethlehem Steel until it closed and then he worked as a custodian for the Brisbane School District and retired in 1989. Following his retirement, he moved back to Arizona to his sister Virginias home where they cared for their Mother Eloise until she passed. Arthur lived the remainder of his life with his sister Virginia and departed this world from his own room. Other surviving families: Virginia Barela, Janie and Lexie Armbruster Florence and Rodney Bosch, Gregory Thelma Wilson, Derrick and Amber Deanna and Howard Brodsky, Kilee Bonnie and Ed Schlosser - Brandi and Ben Aaron, Joseph, Cory, Clayton - Jennifer and Kenny Laird, Madilyn, Cailin Teagan - Douglas and Dionna Schlosser, Nathanial, Nicholas, Naomi and Nolan - Eddie Schlosser, Lilian, Noah, Aaron We will All miss you "Bubbba", "Uncle Art", "Uncle" and "Unc" as we all so dearly called him.
