Obituary: Stella Rainford 98, of Clinton, IL and formerly of Lake Village, IN, passed away , 12, 2015 at Hawthorne Inn in Clinton, IL. She was born 13, 1917, in Tazwell , Spring Lake Twp. near Manteno, IL to parents, Perry and Aggie (Cox) Bailey. She married Russell K. Rainford on 25, 1937 at the Presbyterian Church in Lake Village, IN. He passed away on 2, 2001. Surviving are her two children, Kenneth (Cathy) Rainford of Chandler, AZ, and Marilyn (Darryl) Bremner of Clinton, Il; four grandchildren, Alan (Denise) Rainford of Mechanicsburg, IL, Julie (Brian) Grow of Clarkston, MI, Jason (Kristen) Lieving of Springfield, IL, and Michael (Pat) Lieving of Willow Springs, MO; 5 great grandchildren, Shelby, Allison, and Linda Marie Rainford and Brooke and Holly Grow; one step grandchild, Tommy Lieving; sister, Hettie Abbott of Rensselaer, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers, Oscar, Chester, Charles, Paul, two stillborn; four sisters, Maude, Flora, Ethel, and Pauline. She graduated from high school in Mt. Ayer, IN, class of 1935. Her many activities during her lifetime included upholstering furniture, sewing slipcovers, hanging wallpaper, painting and cleaning homes, making clothing alterations, cutting gladiolas for a florist, and rooting for the Cubs. Her last employment was at Baker and Taylor Wholesale Bookhouse in Momence, IL. In her retirement years she became an avid hand quilter making quilts for her family and others, even doing professional quilting for a quilt shop. She was a charter member of the Village Baptist Church in Lake Village, IN, where she served as the secretary-treasurer for many years. moving to Clinton, she became affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene. While we mourn her death, we celebrate her life and know because of her faith that she has entered her heavenly home. Visitation, , 15, from 2-5, at Sheets & Cremation Services, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN 46356. Services, , 11AM at Village Baptist Church, 9850 N 400 W, Lake Village, IN, with Pastor Fred Zaugg and Pastor Fred Miller officiating.
