Obituary: Ms. Robert Venable Roper, II (Robbie), of St. Simons Island, died 29, 2015, after a brief illness. A Georgia native, she was born in Atlanta on 18, 1953, and was the daughter of Walter Gordon Roper, Jr. and Elizabeth Carter Roper. She was also the granddaughter of the late Capt. Walter Gordon Roper, USN, Ret. and the late Mrs. Robert Venable Roper, for whom she was named. Ms. Roper attended The Westminster Schools beginning in 1959 and graduated in 1972. She attended Vanderbilt University and was a member of the Atlanta Debutante Club, 1973-1974. She returned to college in 1986 to complete her degree, attending Georgia State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts in 1989. She made Phi Kappa Phi, received an award from the Phi Beta Kappa Faculty Group and she felt that these were among the happiest years of her life. Ms. Roper adored fine music, regardless the source; opera; poetry; cooking; and especially classical ballet. As a child, she had been fortunate to study at the Southern School of Ballet in Atlanta, under the tutelage of the late Pittman and Karen Conrad Corry, formerly dancers with the New York City Ballet in the 1940s and 50s. She made the Junior in 1965. These, too, were among the happiest years of her life. Surviving Ms. Roper are her cherished, beloved and loving sister and family, Elizabeth Roper Hart; her one true rother, Leslie Thomas Hart, Jr.; her incredibly talented niece, Sarah Hart Lawson; and her fine and capable nephew, John Gordon Hart. Also surviving are Sarahs devoted husband, Patrick Lawson, along with their delightful son, Will; Johns beautiful wife, Angela Hart; and their adorable two sons, Sam and Ben. All reside within the Nashville-Nolensville, Tennessee area. Surviving as well are Ms. Ropers loyal and generous cousin, Leslie Thornton White of Marietta, Georgia; and her most dear and devoted cousin, Piers Roland Carter and family. Finally, Ms. Roper sadly leaves behind two of the best friends any person could hope to have, whose instant steadfastness and incredible generosity sustained her until the very end and whose true inner worth she only came to know a bit too late, dear, dear Beverly and Brion Trainor. Ms. Roper will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Noahs Ark Animal Sanctuary and Rehabilitation and Noahs Ark Children , Locust Grove, Georgia. |

Obituary: Natalie Ellen Roper, 13, of Hartwell, GA was received into the glory of her Lord Jesus Christ on the evening of , 5, 2015, at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer in New York, NY. Natalie was born on May 1, 2002, in Imperatriz, Maranhao, Brazil to her parents Brian Howard Roper and Emma Brown Roper. During her life here on earth, her favorite activities were spending time with her family, reading, painting, and singing, especially psalms and hymns. She was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Royston, GA. Natalie was diagnosed in 2014 with a rare form of cancer called Ewings Sarcoma. By Gods enabling grace, over the course of the following ten and a half months, Natalie demonstrated unwavering childlike faith in the goodness of her God. Through her often intense suffering, she was a remarkable example of humble submission to her heavenly Fathers tender care and sovereign will. One of Natalies many prayers was that God would use her life to bring glory to His name. This prayer He has indeed answered. From the most seasoned of Christians to the most simple, all those who prayed, encouraged, supported, wept – and weep – for her, had their hearts drawn upward to give glory to the true and living God, whom to know is life eternal. For this reason, though her family and friends grieve the loss deeply, they also rejoice with joy inexpressible and filled with glory. Natalie now worships her glorious God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in perfect fellowship, and awaits with all the saints the great Day of Resurrection to come. Praise be to God. In addition to her parents, Natalie is survived by her younger siblings Owen, Claire, Isaac, Caleb, Priscilla Mae, and baby Abigail, who is expected in early fall; grandparents Harley and Margaret Davis of Dom Eliseu, Para, Brazil, and Jimmy and Donna Roper of Mt. Olive, Alabama; great-grandmother Maragaret Berry May of Maryland. services for Natalie will be held at 6:30 p.m. on , 9, 2015 at the Reed Creek Baptist Church; 2 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, GA with Pastor Mike Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Reed Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Pruitt in Royston, GA is in charge of the arrangements. |
