Obituary: Alena Faye Rowan, 99 of Delray Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at Abbey Delray -center on , 13, under Hospice . She was born in Grainger , TN, 1914. She was a war bride and married Lt. Ralph Rowan (while he was Assistant Base Operations officer at the Avon Park Army Air Corp training center) during the Second World War in Highlands , FL in 1943. the war, they resided in Maryville, TN and were members of the First United Methodist Church until 1960 when they moved and became retail store owners in Atlanta, GA. relocated (with another retail store) to Venice, FL in the mid 1970sw and later they retired to Delray Beach, FL in the early 1980s. She volunteered for 10 years as a cashier for the Haven thrift shop in downtown Delray. She was active in charitable matters with the Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Snipes of Decatur, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Lorie Rowan of Boca Raton; grandchildren include, Jody Petrow of Bellevue, NE, Andrea Rowan Hill of Crozet, VA and Dana Rowan Gould of Albuquerque, NM. In addition, she has six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5-6:30 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click . A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia with Rev. Obituary: Mary Rovnak, 91, formerly of Aliquippa, passed away surrounded by family on 15, 2016 at the Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Fla. Mrs. Rovnak was born Maria Fencak, later recorded as Mary Anne Fenchak, on 17, 1925, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Fenchak. She immigrated from her native Davidov, Slovakia to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1933 before settling with her family in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Mary wed her husband, Michael Rovnak, in Windsor, Ontario in 1947 before making her home in Aliquippa, Pa. In addition to serving as a loving homemaker, Mary was a faithful member of St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa. She was known and loved by friends and family for her traditional Slovak cooking, her Christmas cookies, and her love of singing. Mary was a longtime member of The Confraternity of Christian Mothers in Aliquippa. She enjoyed musical films, Slovak cultural events, opera music, playing the violin, and spending time with her grandchildren. Though Marys work on Earth has come to an end, she will be remembered by friends and family for her energy, her love of life, and her tireless dedication to family. She led a faith-filled life of service to others, most notably her loving husband, seven children, and twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her devotion to her Catholic faith was always of particular importance to Mary, and her family is grateful that she was called to her eternal home on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by an infant sister, Anna Fencak. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Michael Rovnak, of Sarasota, Fla.; sons Michael Rovnak (Cora) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Thomas Rovnak (Cynthia), of Bradenton, Fla., Paul Rovnak (Robin) of Lancaster, Pa., and Robert Rovnak (Cynthia), of Sarasota, Fla.; daughters Mary Anne Adams-Turka (John) of Pittsburgh, Patricia Patchell (Win) of Wexford, Pa., and Susan Rovnak of Baltimore; brother Michael Fenchak (Pamela) of Windsor, Ontario; eleven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. 19 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bee Ridge, Sarasota, Florida, with the Rev. Russell Wright presiding.
