Obituary: Kitty Reed, age 95, surrounded by family and friends, passed away in Madison on 5, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Waukeenah, Florida on 12, 1919. The family moved to Tallahassee where she lived most of her life. She recently moved to Madison to live with her daughter Mary Gramling. She enjoyed raising her children, caring for her aging parents, being with her grandchildren and helping others. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting and fishing.She retired from the State of Florida after 30 years of service. She is survived by her daughter Mary Gramling (Harry); grandson, Keith and a great-grandson Dalton all of Madison, Florida. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, Pat and Alice May; husband, Inman Bickley; second husband, Ernie Reed; Son, Roger Bickley; three brothers and a sister. A special word of appreciation to the staff of Madison for providing loving care to Miss Kitty for the last five months. Kitty will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Graveside services will be held 1pm, 9, 2015 at Roselawn Tallahassee. Culley's MeadowWood is in charge of arrangements. |

Obituary: Karen Marie Reed, 73 of Jacksonville, FL formerly of the Illinois City, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Vincents Medical \ Southside following a short illness. Karen was born in Rock Island, Illinois to Mary Wilma Jenkins and Archie Dean Scalf. She married Arthur F. McCannon on 23, 1960 in Cuba, Illinois from that union had two children - Gayle Lynn and Michelle Sue McCannon. She later married Otis G. Reed on 27, 1964 in Muscatine, Iowa and from that union had a son Otis Opie Chant Reed. Karen graduated from Cuba High School in Cuba, Illinois. She worked for the Court Judge in Rock Island ; she then started her career at IH Farmall in Rock Island \ from whom she retired when the plant closed. Karen then started her second career path with Team Industrials Services in multiple locations and finally in Houston, Texas retiring for the second time in 2011. Karen enjoyed bowling and participated on several bowling leagues when residing in the Quad Cities, She also enjoyed crocheting \ and had created many keepsakes for family and friends and most recently for the NICU babies and Cancer patients at St. Vincents Medical in the form of blankets., playing euchre and traveling with family and friends. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Otis G. Reed and daughter - Gayle Lynn McCannon and granddaughter, Kortney Rae McCannon-deGaris . She is survived by daughter - Michelle McCannon-deGaris (Brian Hepke) of Jacksonville, FL, son - Otis Opie Chant Reed (Sheri) and grandson \ Doug Heath both of Andalusia, Illinois. Obituary: Junior B. Reed, (Col. Ret., USAF) served 33 years as an Air Force pilot. As a young officer at the end of WWII, he served as a flight instructor. He later flew fighter jets, but for the most part, was flying the larger bombers, such as B-52's and B-47's. As a young officer, starting a family, he also attended night classes for several years to earn his B.A. degree in business. In his later career, he was given the responsibility of Wing and Squadron Commander. He also flew the U-2 reconnaissance jet. During the Vietnam war, he served a 1 year tour in flight mission from Thailand over the war zones. a 33 year career, characterized by outstanding service and accomplishments, he retired as a full Colonel, here in Orlando, Florida, to be near his 2 sons and their families. |
