Obituary: Alyda Louise Rast leapt into the arms of Jesus on , 25, 2015. She lived this life to its fullest and in perfect health for most of her 102 years. Born on May 22, 1913, in Jacksonville, to John Walter Rast and Cora Almyra Gardner at 1229 Osceola St. She was the last of her generation spanning 124 years and was preceded in the homecoming by her Parents, Brothers and Sisters, James Jeremiah, Ann Virginia Mellanie (Guy), Mona Cora, Livingston Bryan, John Walter Jr, Cora Almyra (Theus), Jewell Dorcas Mizelle (Willis), and Paul Neil. She lived all of her life in the Jacksonville area where she attended Robert E Lee High School and was part of its first graduating class of 1931. She then moved to Neptune Beach in 1938 with her Mother and Sister Tutta (Cora) and Bailey Theus, where she lived the rest of her life. She started working at the Florida National Bank on 17, 1936 and retired on her birthday in 1973. Her years with FNB were happy ones where she met many friends and spoke of them often. She was a lifelong Methodist and granddaughter of the circuit horse riding Minister, Jeremiah Rast. She was a founding member of Christ United Methodist Church at Neptune Beach where she and her friend, Peggy Burrows took pleasure in the Childrens ministry. As Family will attest, she never had a drink, never smoked, never drove a car, never married, never had a child, but would tell the most colorful jokes. There was always a family joke that she would live long enough to bury us all! Most of us she did! She is survived by her niece, Hetty Lou Theus (Horn) of Jacksonville Beach, 11 Great nieces and nephews, 28 Great Great nieces and nephews, 32 Great Great Great nieces and nephews. She touched many lives with love and joy and will be greatly missed.. A funeral service will be held on , 29, 2015 at 11:00am at Hardage-Giddens with burial to follow in Evergreen at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends evening from 5:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
