Obituary: Surrounded by numerous friends and family the world said goodbye to Walter on in Salem, Oregon at the age of 84. Walter had a love for adventure and new experiences. Those who knew him will never forget his passionate, kind and generous spirit. His love for others and family will be desperately missed. Walter was born in La Paz, Bolivia. He attended Instituto Americano and Universidad Mayor San Andres. He and his beloved wife Rosa moved here in 1977. much hard work Walter opened a well-known and successful restaurant here in Salem which brought him much pride. 36 years of running the business he retired in 2000, but it is still being run by his family. This gave him the time to enjoy travelling, enjoy movies and try new foods with his Rosita. Walter is survived by his wife, Rosa Cardenas; daughter, Jenny Cardenas; son, Ruben Cardenas; daughter, Angelica Mariaca; sister, Maria Eugenia Cardenas, brother, Abel Cardenas and stepchildren Edwin, Bladimir and Briceida Membreno. Obituary: Humberto Albert Quintero, Jr., 72, of Ontario, passed away , May 29, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Medical - Ontario. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, , 3rd at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. services will at 2 pm, , 4th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 661 SW 12th St., Ontario with a viewing from 1 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen , Ontario. and services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Alberts family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Albert was born 23, 1942 to Humberto and Olivia Quintero in Waco, Texas. He graduated from Ontario High School and joined the Army National Guard in 1960 serving until 1968. In 1962 he enrolled at Treasure Valley Community majoring in Electronics, he was also the first Student Body President. Albert married his first wife Sandra Powell 23, 1964 they had two beautiful daughters Kimberly and Kristina. 16, 1972 Albert married his second wife Arlene Mosso; they had a beautiful daughter Amber. Through the years he worked at various food packaging plants as an Electronics Technician. He later went to work for Malheur as an Interpreter and Drug Court Specialist where he retired from. Albert was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 1983. Approximately one year later his sister Stella gave him one of her kidneys. Unfortunately, Alberts body rejected the kidney causing him to have to return to dialysis for a few years until he was blessed with a donor kidney in 1988, amazingly the donor kidney lasted 27 years until his passing. Albert enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and most of all riding his 4-wheeler with his wife Arlene until her death in 2003. He will be remembered for his courageous strength, his beautiful smile, sense of humor, loving ways and being a great husband, father and grandfather. Albert is survived by his daughter, Amber (Rob) Grant of Payette, ID; daughter Kimberly (Paul) Saucerman, of Meridian, ID; daughter Kristina (Josh) Bruns of Meridian, ID; step son Mark (Christine) Mosso, of Middleton, ID; sister Alma (Dan) Wolf of Fruitland, ID; sister Rita Quintero of Ontario, OR; sister Stella (Mike) Frahm of Portland, OR; sister Esther (Steve) Ussing of Meridian, ID; brother Tony (Reta) Quintero of Salem, OR; brother Charlie (Loris) Quintero of Ontario, OR; brother Mario Quintero of Ontario, OR; brother Roy (Pam) Quintero of Pasco WA; and 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Obituary: Also known as, Queen Esther, Mom, Nana, & Shortie Surrounded by her loved ones, Esther Quintana Araujo passed away in Salem, Oregon, on , 12th, 2014. She was 84 years old. battling cancer for the 3rd time in her life, she was too weak to continue forward in her bodily journey. Although she is passed from earthly family and friends, she is in the arms of Jesus visiting with many loved ones who went on before her. Esther's love for her fellow man was made even more evident while suffering through her difficult cancer treatments, fighting terrible pain, she never lost sight of ministering to, and loving others. When family, friends, doctors, and nurses entered her hospital room to offer Esther comfort and support, they most often left the room feeling as if they themselves were the ones supported by Esther's loving-kindness and concern. She was always in prayer, always sharing with others about God's unconditional love and mercy. Esther will be dearly and sorely missed. She was born in Huntington Beach, California to Francisco and Cecilia Garcia, and was the seventh of twelve children. She married Anthony Reyes Quintana in 1957 and had two daughters, Deborah and Esther, who she loved with all her heart. She lived her life totally devoted to God and in raising her daughters alone. She put herself through college, getting her degree in education at Pasadena Community . While living in California she worked as a Head Start teacher. Esther and her girls moved to Oregon in 1975. She worked for the Salem-Keizer School District for over 20 years touching the lives of many families in the community and coworkers throughout her career. Esther finally retired, but kept herself busy crocheting blankets, riding a scuba scooter in Hawaii, parasailing, she learned how to use her iphone & ipad, she enjoyed watching both professional sports and her grand & great grandchildren play sports. She remarried in 1997 to her family friend from church that she had known since in her teens, George Valentine Araujo. What kept her most busy in retirement was her constant prayers for her family and friends. She was a prayer warrior, and was always there to call upon when you needed prayer. Esther is survived by her brother Henry Garcia, sister Evangeline Lopez, brother David Garcia, children Deborah and husband Rudy Godina, Esther and husband Jary Neufeldt, grandchildren Desiree and husband Todd Holcomb, Jessica and husband Jonah Hanson, Jaclyn and Jaremy Neufeldt, great-grandchildren Garrett and Gaven Feusner, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Obituary: Olga Margarita (Meza) Quinonez was born 13, 1948 to Edmundo and Emma (Herrera) Meza in San Jose Poaquil, Guatemala. Olga passed away peacefully from complications due to congested heart failure May 26, 2016 at River Bend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon. In her younger years she attended a catholic church. During Her high school years she travelled daily to Chimaltenango a neighboring town. There she met her first husband Roberto Del Valle and they married in 1964. Olga and Roberto became acquainted with Mennonite missionaries and started attending services regularly, they were baptized and became members at the Chimaltenango Mennonite Church. Roberto passed away in 1969, they had three children Luis, David and Jorge Del Valle. During her years as a widow she was a school teacher, ran a small store, sold baked goods, and was a photographer. She married David Quinonez 13, 1975. had a daughter, Patricia Quinonez. joined the Mennonite Air Mission headquartered in Guatemala City and both served several years as teachers in rural outposts in the interior where due to the ruggedness and lack of decent roads the best way to travel in and out was flying in a small aircraft. During this time Olga trained and became a certified midwife to deliver babies in these rural areas. And often was called during late hours to assist in difficult deliveries. In of 1981 during the height of civil unrest and political instability the family felt threatened by this turmoil and moved to Los Angeles, California with plans to live close to Olgas mother and siblings. It was not long they realized it was not the environment they wanted to raise their children. In the fall of 1981 they accepted an invitation to move to Oregon. In Oregon she overcame the language barrier, and after making many mistakes in her communication she learned to communicate with many people who became her close friends. attended the Tangent Mennonite Church. lived for a short time in Harrisburg before settling in the Halsey area where she lived until her death. Before her health deteriorated, Olga enjoyed canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting and loved flowers – Roses in particular, were her favorites. Surviving are her husband David Quinonez and her children, David Del Valle (Lillian) of Shedd, Oregon; Jorge Del Valle (Maria) of Canton, Ohio; Patty Quinones of Halsey, Oregon. Six grand Children: Brandon, Tyson, Bradford and Randall Del Valle of Shedd, Oregon and Jenna and Jose Del Valle of Canton, Ohio. Also surviving are her siblings, Marta Lara from Los Angeles, CA.; Mario Meza from Rio Rancho, NM.; Sonia Romero from Crawfordsville, OR.; Ana Kauffman from Halsey, OR and Alicia Schaper from Los Angeles, CA. and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death: her first husband, Roberto Del Valle, her new-born son Luis Roberto, her father Edmundo Meza and her mother Emma Herrera de Meza. The family wishes to thank everyone who was involved in her life, for the prayers on her behalf as she battled her illness, for the gifts of food and other items and greatly appreciate the expressions of love and sympathy we have received during this difficult time of her parting. She will be greatly missed! A funeral service was held on May 31st at Halsey Mennonite Church. Interment was at Alford . Contributions may be made to Halsey Mennonite Church. |
