Obituary: QUINTAS, Jose Benjamin, 61, of Brandon entered into rest 19, 2015. Jose moved to Tampa from Cuba in 1962. He just recently retired from Tampa Electric after 37 ½ years of service. Jose was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 14278 as a 4th degree Knight. He also was involved with the Boy Scouts, and an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonardo Quintas. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Terri; sons, Joseph, Daniel (Erised); mother, Nila Quintas; brother, Jorge (Vanessa); niece, Tatiana. Obituary: I would like start by thanking you for attending a celebration of my mother's life. I am happy to see so many people here today to pay their respects to my mother, Ana. Seeing so many loving friends and relatives shows how wonderful a person my mother was. For those of you here that do not know me, my name is Lorena and I am Ana's eldest daughter. My mother Ana, was a kind, sweet, loving, compassionate and one of the most humble person we had the privilege to call our mother. She never missed an opportunity to help others through her kind and selfless acts. My mother was a hard working person who instilled in us the importance of education and hard work. These values my mom passed down to me, my brother Wilber and my little sister Grace Has helped us to accomplished our goals. She was a loyal person to her husband, her friends and her job. She worked in the same company ( Hoerbiger) for 27 years, she was so loyal and dedicated that she worked on the day she gave birth to her younger daughter - Grace. She married the love of her life, my father, Gonzalo at a young age of 25 and they were married for 49 years. worked together for 27 years, ate lunch everyday together, travel together, shopped together ; they spend every moment together- now if that's not true love , I don't know what is. She was born in El Salvador but was proud to be a naturalized American citizen. She loved to cook, shop, and travel. Her grandchildren were spoiled rotten (Erika, Nicolaus and her baby - Ethan) with hugs and kisses. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She welcome Frankie (Erika's husband) with open arms and loved him like her own grandchild. She treated my husband Jim like her son and Catherine like her daughter. She would always side with them because they could never do any wrong in her eyes; She loved you both dearly. Now, she was a soccer fanatic and loved her US team, she would scream at the tv and argue with the referee and dad; she was a feisty little woman who battle her lung disease until the Lord took her home. I am very proud of my mother. She taught us a lot about the importance of balancing work and family. She was a well-respected wife, mother, coworker, and friend. She would always tell us, "treat others as you would like to be treated"; Apparently, she should know - just look around you and the person next to you can tell you what an exceptional woman my mother was. I will leave you with this poem I wrote for my Mommie: Mommie, In the meadows of the Lord's garden I envision you in peace Our path has not ended For we shall meet again And we will hold hands and laugh again As a mother with her child For this is not the end But a celebration of your life Enjoy the gardens and the meadows Sweet angel And rejoice in the love of the Lord. Obituary: Simon J. Quintana, Sr., passed away suddenly on 10, 2015 in Jacksonville Beach. Born in Rocky Ford, Colorado, he grew up in Pecos, New Mexico. He moved his family to Atlantic Beach more than 40years ago after being transferred to Naval Station Mayport. Upon retirement from the Navy as an E6, he attended UNF and had a distinguished career as a Mental Counselor in both Jacksonville and St. ine. He was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and once served as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rudy, he is survived by his wife of 50 years, Fran Quintana; son, Simon J. Quintana, Jr.; daughter, Gina Torres (Ray); grandchildren, Brandon, Shannon and Gabriell Saavedra; great-grandson, Noah Allen; sisters, Flora Aragon, Ruby Quintana and Terry Romero; brothers, Henry, Phillip and Ralph Quintana; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. , 14th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Mark Waters presiding. The family will receive friends at the church one hour to service time. Burial will take place in the Jacksonville National at a later date.
