Obituary: John James Jim Pinion 65, passed away on , May 27, 2010, in Anchorage, AK. Jim was a loving father and husband, avid fisherman, and lifelong educator; born in New Bedford, MA on May 21, 1945, Jim graduated from Munich American High School in Munich, Germany. He received his B.S. degree in Vocational Agriculture from Southwest Texas State University; afterward he completed a Masters Degree in Educational Mid Management from the University of Houston Clear Lake. He first taught school in Laredo, TX, and ultimately met his loving wife while teaching in Texas City, TX. he was wed he continued to teach throughout Texas until the family moved to Anchorage, AK, where he began teaching at Gruening Middle School. He also taught in Aniak, AK and drove across the frozen Arctic Ocean to teach in Nuiqsut. He rose to the position of principal in Northway and Ft. Yukon, AK. He is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Pinion of Fairbanks, AK; a son, John James Pinion, Jr., also of Fairbanks; a sister, Joan Christine Pinion; a brother, Robert B. Pinion and wife Martha; 2 nieces, Courtney Pinion-Ortiz and husband Adam, and Shannon York and husband Bill; and a nephew, Jason Alexander and wife Hamida. He was laid to rest at Holy Cross in San Antonio, TX 11, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 801 W. Fireweed Lane, #103 Anchorage, Alaska 99503. |
