Obituary: J ohn Thomas Panasuk 4, 1968 - 18, 2015 John Thomas Panasuk passed away Sept. 18, 2015 in his home in Winnetka, CA . Known by all his friends as JT, Jay by family, and John by record was only 47 years old. He was born at Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, CA on 4, 1968. The son of Mildred and John Panasuk, brother of Tina, Donna, Liz and Kate was the youngest child in the family. We remember Dad being so happy that he finally got his boy. John attended Limerick Elementary School, Lawrence Junior High and Chatsworth High School. John was a baseball enthusiast, playing and umpiring games on the park leagues. He was an avid baseball card collector and a fan of the New York Yankees. Some say he was a world class baseball trivia expert extraordinaire. Johns passion was guns, ammo and shooting. He loved to shoot, indoor - outdoor ranges, it did not matter. Often making a day of it by taking family and friends with their families. John worked in the student housing department at Cal State University Northridge (CSUN) for over 18 years. During his employment as a maintenance mechanic he established long and lasting friendship. Friends, co-workers and those fortunate enough to have known him and were touched by the gentle giant will cherish the memories of his time with us. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Holschlag Panasuk and father, John Joseph Panasuk of Winnetka, CA. John is survived by his girlfriend, Marlyn Smith of Winnetka, CA, his sisters, Tina Hutchinson-Emerick and husband Don, of Atascadero, CA, sister Ladonna Panasuk-Rodriguez and husband Jaime of North Hollywood, CA, sister Liz Cooper of Valencia CA, and sister Kate Ross and her husband, Tom of La Quinta, CA. Nieces and nephews: Annie and Derek Gainer and their children Aubry and Shea, James Hutchinson of Tucson, AZ and his son Brody, Jenny and Mike Babbidge of Valencia, CA and their children Ryder and Grady, Monica and Jeff Storch of New York, NY and their children Sadie and Ben, Danielle and Matt Bellanger of Pasadena, CA, Chris and Dawn Cooper of Valencia, CA and their children Kylie and Kiera, Jeremy and Lindsey Cooper of Arroyo Grande, CA and their children Gwen and Brie, Kyle and Hanan Olson of Long Beach, CA and Kerry Olson of Torrance CA. John, Jay, JT was a great brother, partner, cousin, and friend. He was our protector. Strong in times of need, steadfast and understanding. Just his presence was reassuring. He was intelligent, always surprising one with his vast knowledge of multiple subjects. A man of strong convictions, of whats right and wrong, loyal and loving to family and friends. Jay the tuff guy with a heart of gold. He was one of a kind and will be profoundly missed but will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
