Obituary: Born in San Antonio, Texas, 15, 1926 at Santa Rosa Hospital, to Edward Patrick Pinget and Lizbeth Wilkens Pinget, Bernard Eugene Pinget was known by many names., Bernard, B.B., Oildrop, Froggy,Bernie, Friend, Honey, Sweetie, Brother, Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Popo, Beloved Father and Beloved Husband. All that knew Bernard Eugene Pinget had their own special name for him because he was such a wonderful, charismatic, godly man, who never met a stranger, cared deeply, laughed often and truly loved others. Bernard Eugene Pinget died on , 10, 2017 and has now joined his darling and sweetheart forever, who died on May 6, 2015, Delphine Marie Pinget. There is rejoicing in heaven, where we are sure there are cookies and celebrations to delight all including Bernards brother, Edward Wilkins Pinget, who preceded him in death. For Bernie, it was always God first, followed by Family and abundant fun. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Bernie attended Sacred Heart Catholic School followed by Central Catholic High School from where he graduated. A sports lover to the end, Bernie played basketball and baseball for Central Catholic High School. It was during this time, that Bernie attended a Knights of Columbus Club dance and first met Delphine Marie Pinget. Following high school, he attended St. Marys University where he studied electrical engineering for one year, then because of World War II, Bernie enlisted in the navy, where he served for two years, 26, 1944 to 17, 1946. Bernie was one of the survivors of Halseys Typhoon (Typhoon Cobra/Typhoon of 1944) which hit the U.S. Pacific Fleet in of 1944. During this horrendous storm that sunk ships and killed many, his ship used two sea anchors and still was carried out to sea. Upon returning to San Antonio after the war, Bernie completed two more years at St. Marys University once again studying electrical engineering. During this time, Bernie looked for work in order to fix his car. So began his career with Humble Oil (Exxon) in 1947 where he began at a Humble Service Station pumping gas and cleaning the office and service station as a janitor. 3 months, he applied for a job at the Humble Bulk Station, he was hired and began driving 2000 gallon gasoline trucks making deliveries in San Antonio, then he worked driving 18-wheelers and performed accounting work in the office. Next he was transferred to Harlingen and promoted to Plant Manager of the Bulk Station. one year he was transferred back to San Antonio working as a dispatcher, warehouse manager, salesman and auditor. Later, Bernard would be promoted and transferred to Victoria, then Tacoma and finally Yakima where he worked as a Sales Representative covering a territory from Spokane, Washington to Baker, Oregon driving over 1,500 miles each week. 25 years of dedicated service to Exxon (Humble Oil), Bernard retired in 1977. Following this Bernie got his Real Estate License and worked as a Real Estate Agent until he took a position in 1983 as an Appraiser for the Tax Assessor from which he retired in 1991. his return to San Antonio from Harlingen for Humble Oil in 1948, Bernies best friend, Luke Reile suggested a double date at the movies and told him to call Delphine Marie Pinget again. fell in love and were married 13, 1949, a marriage that lasted 67 years and a love that will continue forever. Devoted Catholics, Bernie and Delphine were always extremely active members of their Catholic Church. In Yakima, Bernie served Holy Family Catholic Church as an Usher, Eucharistic Minister, Money Counter, a member of the choir and a volunteer working at the funeral Luncheons, taking great pride as the chief dishwasher. Bernie is survived by his four children, Debbie Pinget, White Swan, Washington, Connie Pinget Raub, San Antonio, Texas, Melissa Pinget Mayo, Bothell, Washington, Brian Bernard Pinget, Renton, Washington, his grandchildren, Christopher Clemetson, Puyallup, Washington, Jennifer Lamoure, Las Vegas, Nevada, Elysia Hale, San Antonio, Texas, Gregory and Alyss Pinget, Renton, Washington, and his two great grandchildren, Eowyn Clemetson, Puyallup, Washington and Tyler Lamoure, Las Vegas, Nevada. The family would like to express deep appreciation and thanks to Rescare and the wonderful caregivers, Connie, Liz and , whose thoughtful, attentive care and friendship gave our Father great joy in his waning years. We will be forever grateful. Also, a very special thanks to Dick Roberts who graciously brought our Father communion daily, a true highlight and inspiration to his day.
