Obituary: Laurence Vaughan Purvis Laurence Vaughan Purvis, 69, of Chantilly, Virginia, passed away peacefully on , 17, 2015 surrounded by his wife of 41 years, Nancy, and his four children: Tom, Katie, Brad, Tim and his brother David. Born in South Shields, England to Stanley and Phyllis Purvis he spent his childhood in England. finishing his education and earning his professional certifications as a quantity surveyor, he moved to North America spending most of his adult life in Northern Virginia. He worked at Jacobs Engineering for 25 years before retiring in 2013. Laurie belonged to various groups and organizations in his life, including the Boy Scouts with his 3 sons. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, model making, reading, listening to music, had a love of history and love of animals. He loved spending time at the Outer Banks each year. He will be remembered most for his caring heart, sense of humor, infectious laugh and love for his family. Laurie was extremely proud of his family and is survived by his loving wife Nancy, as well as his four children. Tom Purvis and wife Lori, Katie Cusson and her husband Adam, sons Bradley and Tim Purvis. Adoring Grandchildren, Ryan, Alexis, Hunter and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother David Purvis and his wife , and their two children Julie and Alison from Toronto, Canada. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Virginia Cleveland from Eldorado, Illinois. He is also survived by brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Visitation will take place , 24, 2015 from 4-8pm at Demaine in Fairfax, Virginia. A Celebration of Life service will take place on , 25, 2015 starting at 11am at Demaine in Fairfax, Virginia. Obituary: Kenneth "Kenny" Crist Purvis, 67, of Rustburg, was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven, , 16, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Vanessa Purvis. He was born 16, 1947, a son of the late Tom Atley and Sarah Crist Purvis of Lovingston. He was the eldest of their two sons. He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Massie Purvis. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Vanessa Hines Purvis; mother, Sarah Purvis; three children Christy Viar, Michael Purvis (Tamara), and Sheena Frost (Brian); five grandchildren, Fallon Viar, Seth Pezanko, Zachary Pezanko, Bianca Cothran, and Brooklyn Frost; Sister-in-law, Virginia Mae "Sissy" Purvis; and three nieces, Melanie Gowell, Kelly Woodson and Misty Purvis. Kenny lived his life to the fullest and in the process touched the lives of so many, which can be seen through his countless number of friends. His passion was to graciously serve others in any capacity he could, while making his daily rounds to check on his family and friends. Kenny was a remarkable person and truly a gift from God to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved God, his community, and remained an amazing husband, loving father and grandfather until the end. He took great pride in taking care of his family, telling jokes, and telling stories of his "glory" days. An amazing athlete in his prime, he was drafted by the Orioles in the 4th round of the 1965 MLB draft out of Nelson High School. His baseball career was cut short when he was drafted to Vietnam where he served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Kenny was employed by and retired from Joseph A. Sanzone and Associates. He took great pride in his work as an investigator. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 p.m. , 20, 2014, at New Chapel Baptist Church in Rustburg with Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. |

Obituary: Billy Crist Purvis, 79, of Madison Heights passed away , 7, 2016, at his residence. He was the husband of Edith McLemore Purvis. Born 26, 1936, in Bedford , he was the son of the late Percy Brown Purvis and the late Carrie Crist Purvis. Billy was a retired foreman for the Central Virginia Training where he served for 20 years. He also worked at the Lynchburg Gas for 12 years. Billy was a member of Amelon United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Whitney B. Purvis, Sr. and his son-in-law, Randall Hall. In addition to his wife, Billy is also survived by two children, Rebecca Purvis Hall and Robert Dale Purvis, both of Madison Heights; three grandchildren, Derek Moss, Jared Moss and Cody Slonaker; five great grandchildren, Aubrey Moss, Malorie Moss, Brooklyne Moss, Kamryn Moss and Kali Moss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
