Obituary: Douglas Allen Doug Prillaman, 71, of Bassett, Virginia passed from this life on May 1, 2015, at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Martinsville, Virginia on 3, 1943 to late H. L. Prillaman, Sr. and Velma Young Prillaman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, H. L. Prillaman, Jr. He attended J. D. Bassett High School, served with the 2174th unit of the U. S. Army Reserves from 1964 thru 1971; later worked at Bob White Chevrolet and W & B Chevrolet before becoming a deputy for the Henry Sheriff Department serving as a correction officer, road officer, road sergeant and retiring in 2006 as sergeant of court security. retiring and up until his sudden illness he served as a part-time deputy for the Martinsville Sheriff Department and Henry Sheriff Department. He was a member of Fort Trial Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, sunday school director, a member of the Baptist Men and a member of the adult choir and church security committee. Left to cherish his memory his wife, Carolyn Robertson Prillaman of the home, two daughters, Stephanie P. Cooley and her husband Johnny and Stacie R. Prillaman, two step-grandsons, Justin Cooley and his wife Genevieve and Colby Cooley all of Bassett, one sister, Joylee Nickelston of Roanoke, a number of nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Jeanette Secrest, Iva Arrington, Kitty Lou Robertson and Juanita Prillaman. The family will receive friends night, May 3, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Fort Trial Baptist Church and at other times at the home on Reed Creek Drive, Bassett. The Service will be held , May 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Fort Trial Baptist Church with Dr. Joey McNeill officiating. Interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P. O. Obituary: Billy Everett Prillaman, 76, of Bassett passed away on , 5, 2016. He was born in Franklin on 28, 1939 to the late John Marshall Prillaman and Nannie Sue Clark Prillaman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Walter Neal Morris. He is survived by his wife Opal Bullard Prillaman; sisters, Lucy Rakes, Lolene Moore and Molly Dalton; brothers, Dewey Prillaman, John J. Prillaman and David Wayne Prillaman. Mr. Prillaman was retired from Nationwide s. He was a member of Fort Trial Christian Church where he was a strong supporter of the church, President of the Mens Club, was on the property committee, served as a Deacon and was also an Elder where he was vice chairman. The funeral service will be held at Fort Trial Christian Church on , 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on , 7, 2016 at Collins in Bassett, VA. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to, Fort Trial Christian Church, 6356 Virginia Ave, Bassett, VA 24055. |
