Obituary: Thomas J Poniatowski, 76 passed away on 5th 2015 at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He passed on surrounded by his loving family which he genuinely cherished. Thomas (or Pap as he was better known) was born on May 4th 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate of Allegheny High School. He met his wife Marianne while working as a gas station attendant in 1957. were married two years later on May 9th 1959. spent 55 wonderful years married to each other, building their lives together at first in Pittsburgh and then Northern Virginia. spent the last 42 years living together in Springfield, VA. There they laid roots and grew their family which he loved more than anything. He is survived by his wife Marianne Poniatowski, his daughter Marianne and son in law Nick Beck, his youngest daughter Renee and son in law Eric Morrissette, his 5 grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, Douglas, Walter & Charlie and two great-grandchildren Becka and Taylor. His passing has left a void that can never be filled and we will always miss his loving presence. Services will be held Jan 10th at 1 PM at the Demaine located at 10565 Main St. Fairfax, VA 22030, with a reception to follow at The Beck residence. That address is 4917 Tydfil Ct. Fairfax, VA 22030. If you knew Pap then you know that he was a casual, fun loving man and we would like to celebrate his life as such. He hated wearing suits and so the family encourages guests to dress casual and wear colored clothing and not black. Obituary: On 29, 2015, Anthony George Pongratz died after living 90 years filled with adventures in which he made his own luck with the help of the angels. Born in 1925 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Tony joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. In spite of contracting malaria while in basic training and surviving an attack of appendicitis in England, Tony saw his first combat on the front lines in Normandy on 9, 1943, where he drove the supply truck, which then became the ambulance on the way out. surviving three wars, living in four countries and three continents, Tony retired from the Army after 26 years as a civil servant. He retired from Ft. Monroe in 1987. Left to share the stories of Tonys life include his wife, Kathleen; three sons, George (Susan), Tom (Donna), and John; and two daughters, Michele and Pat (George). In addition he has 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren to share his legacy of gardening, train collecting, photography, and travel. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm on , May 2, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood , with a celebration of Tonys life to begin at 2:00 pm.
