Obituary: Robert Earl Penick, 89, passed away on May 9, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Phyllis Marie Penick; his daughters Karen Shirley Boyd, Robin Jayne Patterson, Kelly Sue Israel, and Kathy Anne Keys; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; step children, Diana L.(Mike) Shiflett, John W.(Carol Lowe) Duvall and Michael M. (Sheryl) Duvall; step granddaughters, Danielle M. Duvall and Brittany N.(Brenden) Vaughn; and step great-grandson, Austin E. Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Deaner Penick, brother Price Penick, sister Olden Drinkard, his son Danny Galen Penick and grandson Daniel Benjamin Becker, Staff SGT, US Army. A veteran of the US Navy, Robert was born in Lynchburg, VA. He was a Yard Master for the RFP Railroad, retiring after many years of devoted service in 1989. He Volunteered at Koinonia with Franconia United Methodist Church and was an avid bowler with multiple perfect games. The family will receive friends on , May 12, 2017 from 11am to 12:30pm at the Demaine , 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30pm. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort , 6600 S. Kings Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. |

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert Earl Penick, and sister Dorothy Sherman. She is survived by her three children Diana L. Shiflett (Mike Shiflett) of Stafford, Virginia. John W. Duvall (Carol Lowe) of Fairfax, Virginia, and Michael M. Duvall (Sheryl H. Duvall) of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Two grandchildren Danielle M. Duvall of Shepherdstown, West Virginia and Brittany N. Vaughn (Brenden E. Vaughn) and one great-grandchild Austin E. Vaughn of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Phyllis retired from the RF&P Railroad at Potomac Yard in Alexandria, Virginia. She was a long time member of Franconia United Methodist Church in Alexandria and has given 20 years of volunteer service at Koinonia Foundation, Inc. also in Alexandria, Virginia. Obituary: PENDLETON, William Edwin, 82, passed away on , 26, 2016. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, and is survived by four children, Vickie Wall (Scott), Diane Delaney (John), Tracy Pendleton (Susan), and Kandi SantAnna (Xel). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers; Raymond (Jean), and Wayne. In addition, he had a blessed life and enjoyed many friends and long-time neighbors. He was born in Meadows of Dan, Va., and was the son of the late Harry R. and Agnes R. Pendleton. He retired from Diebold Inc. in 1998, after 29 years of service. He was a member of Fort Lee Baptist Church, and a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. Bill enjoyed hunting with his family and friends, trout fishing, camping at Rainbow Acres, working in his garage, and having his family around him. He was very proud of his mountain heritage, and he enjoyed bluegrass music, practical jokes, and laughing. The family would like to thank the staff at Medi & Hospice for many years of caring for our parents, and especially Georgia, Amanda, and Dixie. Services will be held at Fort Lee Baptist Church on , 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. The family will receive visitors at Nelsen , Laburnum Ave. Chapel on , 1, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to either the Wounded Warrior Foundation or the Apraxia-Kids.org organization.
