Obituary: Glen Whitlock Peterson, 90, passed away of natural causes on , 6, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah with his wife of 69 years Carnell Lund Peterson, and his family by his side. Glen was born on 23, 1925 to Clarence and Pearl Whitlock Peterson in Gunnison, Utah. He married Carnell Lund Peterson on Sept 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glen served in the Air Force during WWII and was recalled to the Korean conflict. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in Education and a Masters in Education. He was a teacher and principal at John Muir (Merced), Grandview, Lafayette, Matheson, Sumner and Backman elementary schools in Salt Lake City. He served in multiple educator development programs and mentored many others in the school district. He worked as a summer county recreation counselor for many years as coach, teacher and mentor. He was also very active for many years I local party caucuses and a frequent delegate. He and his sweetheart traveled extensively all over the world and enjoyed their travels, by air, car and cruise. Traveling with friends sightseeing, golfing and games and just traveling as a couple, they enjoyed time all over the United States, North America, Caribbean, Europe, Egypt, Israel and Australia and New Zealand. Glen and his wife Carnell served as LDS mission in Fort Lauderdale Florida Mission and made many friends both in and out of the church. Serving for many years in the Bishopric and later as the Bishop of the Mountain View Ward, Glen loved working with his friends and neighbors. Glen and his wife Carnell worked in the baptistery at the Jordan River temple as well as session director for many years. loved their service and working with the youth as they did for decades in the schools. Annual family reunions in St. George watching the shows and spending time with the entire family was a yearly highlight for decades. Family was important and loved in extraordinary ways. Glen was a stalwart in the church, in society, in his vocation and an example of all he believed. He was a pillar of strength and faith and a great role model for all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Carnell, 3 sons, Royce Glen (Sharlyn), Kim Lund (Jan) and Randy Lynn (Wendy), 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. services will be held , 10, 2015 at 12:00 noon at the Hillside Stake , 1400 So 19th East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Obituary: At 90 years old Gerri passed away at home with her loving family and dear friends. Gramma was a woman of grace and elegance. Everyone enjoyed her sweet demeanor and unique sense of humor. She loved watching television, especially Big Bang Theory. Born in Salt Lake City 20, 1923 to Janse and Ted Brouws, she had 3 sisters Viola Comnes, Lillian Weaver and Dolores Garcia (all preceded her in death) and 11 nieces and nephews. Once her children entered school she started a career at Steve Regan and eventually retired from Unisys where she worked in the engineering department. Obituary: Gene Charles Peterson age 93 passed away 11 2014 in SLC. He was born 5, 1920 in Gunnison, Utah to Pearl Marie Whitlock and Clarence Peterson. He married Phillis Johnson 14, 1945 in Kingston, Arizona. She passed away on the 6th of , 1996 and he later married Donna Shipley on the 14th of May 1996. He graduated from Gunnison High School in 1938 and became part of the Greatest Generation. He joined the U.S. Air Force in the 388th Combat Bomb Unit. He served as a Lieutenant in WWII until 1945. As a B 17 Bomber Pilot he completed 35 missions total. The first two missions he flew were on D-Day. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross 3 times and the Air Medal 5 times. his time in the service he attended Utah State University. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in 1947. He spent 33 years in the Agricultural Department of Utah Idaho Sugar in Gunnison, Delta, Richfield and West Jordan, Utah as well as Toppinish and Kennewick, Washington. He served in the Salt Lake City general office as General Superintendent. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was also very involved in the Community including the Boy Scouts, Lions Club, 4 H Club and was a recipient of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award in 1953. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Lamar Peterson and Wesley Peterson; two sisters, Marilyn (Larry) Burt and Charlene (Calvin) Cotrell and daughter Jeanne (Robert) Gorment. Survived by his wife Donna; one brother Glenn Peterson; two children, Sandra Lee Peterson and Paul Douglas Peterson; two grandchildren, Christy Lee Peterson and Tara (Steven) Reggimellos as well as four step children; Janet (Richard) Cain, Richard Lyle Shipley, Robert Dale Shipley and Carolyn S. Jaussi, 24 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Services will be held at the Valley View Stake at 2245 E 3900 S Salt Lake City. The viewing will be at 10:30am and services will begin at 12:00pm. |

Obituary: Fredric Grant Peterson passed away , 15, 2013. He has been called home to serve in eternity the God he loved and served so well in life. He is a man of duty, honor, integrity, strength and compassion. The world has lost one of its truly noble men. Grant was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 6, 1939 to William Overn Peterson and Margaret Elsa Thompson. graduating from Salt Lake Citys East High School and East High Schools ROTC in 1957 he began his study of mathematics at the University of Utah. He served two and a half years (1959 -1961) as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Spanish American Mission. He earned Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Mathematics from the University of Utah, where he also graduated from the Army ROTC. Grant married Kathleen Louise Burbidge, the love of his life, on 21, 1963 in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they have seven children: William, Bradley, Marinda, Jennifer, James, Bryce and Bryan. also have 30 grandchildren. Grant dedicated his life to the service of his God, his family, his country and his fellowmen. As an active member of the LDS Church, he served in many capacities, including: LDS Army Chaplain, gospel doctrine teacher, counselor in a bishopric, ward and stake clerk, high counselor, and Temple Square visitor guide and home teacher. He had a great understanding of the doctrines of the restoration and enjoyed teaching them. He never missed a home teaching visit. His testimony of the gospel, and his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ never wavered. Grant loved his family and took tremendous pride in their accomplishments. He received the nickname Furry Bear from his oldest daughter, which symbolized the fact that underneath a firm exterior was the heart of a teddy bear. He never forgot a birthday, and he participated in every church ordinance or ordination in his extended family, often traveling long distances to do so. He was a constant presence at the musical, dramatic, scouting and athletic events of his children and grandchildren. He was a source of unyielding strength to his family at all times and in all ways. He loved music and was an accomplished pianist and drummer. He also enjoyed attending classical music performances, the theater, photography and collecting teddy bears. Grant served for 30 years as an LDS Chaplain in the United States Army and Army Reserve, retiring at the rank of Colonel. He served tours of duty in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, and in Operation Desert Storm. For many years he served as the senior chaplain for the Armys 96th Army Command, headquartered at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah. As chaplain, he counseled and comforted thousands of soldiers as they served their country. He taught for 34 years as a professor at Brigham Young University in the Marriott School of Managements School of Accountancy and in the of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. During his tenure he had was able to teach a great majority of the students who passed through the accounting program and help them prepare for their careers. Grant is survived by his loving wife Kathleen, his children William (Rebekah) of Alpine, Utah, Bradley (Alice) of Marshall, Michigan, Marinda (John) Bennion of Allen, Texas, Jennifer (Kenneth) Cox of Murrieta, California, James (Mary) of Stafford, Virginia, Bryce (Jaclyn) of Chandler, Arizona and Bryan of Orem, Utah; his brother Jared Hemingway (Ester) Peterson of Wheaton, Illinois, and 30 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother William Clayne Peterson, and sister-in-law Clarka Bayles Peterson. services will be , 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orem Utah Orchard Stake , 810 East 600 North, Orem, Utah. Friends may visit with family evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson , 646 East 800 North, Orem and , morning 21st 9:30-10:40 am at the stake center. Interment will be at the Logan City . |
