Obituary: NORTHPORT - Annie Bell Poole, age 90, of Northport, died 26, 2016, at Glen Haven . Services will be 11 a.m. , 28, 2016, at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Jerry Montgomery and Brother Terrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset , a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewell and Tempie Taylor Smith; her siblings, Lennie B. Duncan, William Smith, Lonnie Smith and LaFund Smith; and her husband, Ralph Poole. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Smith (James); sisters, Kathleen Thompson (Tommy L.) and Marie Hedrick; brother, J.B. Smith (Bernie); grandchildren, Kim Hudson (Will) and Scott Smith (Stefanie); and great-grandchildren, Abby Hudson and Kaitlyn Smith. Known to her family and friends as Granny, Annie Bell was married to her late husband for 62 years. She was a member of Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for her entire life. Her love for God radiated through her life and glowing smile. Pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Will Hudson, Brad Pool, Gary Logan, Tommy L. Thompson and Stephen W. Thompson. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband, Clifton W. Poole, Jr.; sons, James A. Simpson (Julia K.) and John Marcus Simpson (Wendy S.); a sister, Mary Francis Smith; grandchildren, James R. Simpson, Jacqueline R. Bates, Jonathan M. Simpson, Brandon M. Simpson, Jennifer S. Several years after James death she met Clifton Poole at the Fultondale Seniors and they became Dominos partners. became the Senior State Champions in Dominos and were later married on May 18th, 2001. A graveside service will be held on , 30, 2015 at Oakwood Memorial Gardens at 2 PM with visitation at Ridouts Gardendale Chapel from 1 until 2 PM. Her grandson, James R. Obituary: Annamae Poole, of Mtn. Brook, passed away unexpectedly from complications while in the hospital following a fall. Born in Bowdon, ND, she attended teachers college and taught all ages in a one-room school. During WW II, she joined the State Dept. and was sent to Birmingham. the war, she met her Air Force Captain who became her beloved husband of 65 years. Throughout her life, she volunteered at Baptist Montclair and Independent Presbyterian Church. She was an expert seamstress, loved history, literature, animals, and especially cats. She enjoyed traveling world-wide with her husband. Mrs. Poole is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Byram Poole, Jr.; her son, H. Byram Poole, III; daughter-in-law, Katherine Carmichael Poole; brother, Edward W. Watt and his wife, Florence Huston Watt. Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn (Kay) Poole Garcia (Joe); grand-daughter, Leslie H. Gonzalez (Jose), all of Birmingham; grand-son, Lt. John Hillhouse ( ) of Mililani, HI; and niece, Mary Watt (Bill Streider), Mishawaka, IN. She also leaves her well-loved cat, Miss Kitty. Her family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Estates, and SICU at St. Vincents Hospital for her loving care. Visitation will be , Nov. 3, at 1:00 PM, with a service at 2:00 at Valley Chapel, wood. A private burial will be at the familys cemetery. Obituary: TUSCALOOSA | Sue Sudduth Pool, age 99, of Tuscaloosa entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2015 at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be , May 3, 2015, at Sunset from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. The service will be led by Reverend Tim Tindle and Reverend Chris Waddell. Sunset , a Dignity Memorial Provider, is directing. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Pool; her parents, Joe M. Sudduth, Bessie Ray Sudduth and step-mother Edith Sudduth; five sisters; seven brothers and one step-brother. Survivors are children, Barbara Pool Fields (Irvin), Cynthia Pool Wilson (Mike), Donald Pool (Dorothy); and step-sister, Margaret Hughes of Greenwood, Mississippi; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Carroll , Mississippi, Sue didn know until later in life that she was descended from a pioneer Tuscaloosa family. Sue and J. C. moved to Tuscaloosa in 1951 from Columbus, Mississippi. She retired from the University of Alabama Student . She and J. C. had been long time members of Southside Baptist Church and were charter members of Indian Lake Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers are members of Indian Lake Baptist Church, Ridgecrest Baptist Church and employees and residents of Pine Valley Retirement Community. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Northport Medical Rehab, Forest Manor Rehab, Hospice of West Alabama and the Knoll at Pine Valley.
