Obituary: Viola Wilma Pokorny left this earthly home for her heavenly home on 2, 2015. She was born in Bastrop near Smithville, Texas on 23, 1923 to Charlie and Minnie (Teykl) Palla. On 30, 1947 she married her sweetheart Joe R. Pokorny. Viola was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she loved her family dearly and always went out of her way to help them with anything. She was a wonderful homemaker and helped her husband Joe on the farm. She loved cooking, baking kolaches and making her famous oatmeal cookies. Viola enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and flower garden and her roses were prize winners. Viola always said that love was the key to her and Joes happy marriage. She was the heart and soul of our family. Viola was a member of the Taylor Brethren Church; she also was a member of the Christian Sisters, SPJST Lodge 29 and VFW Post 4476. Viola is survived by her son Dennis Pokorny and wife Theresa, daughters Gail Johle, Karen Miller and husband Ken; a brother Wilbert Palla and wife Martha; grandchildren Kristi Susan and husband Joey, Darrin Svehlak and family friend Frank Palasota,Trey Johle and wife Amy, Brandi Tull and husband Ryan, Michele Elkins and husband Todd, Melissa Bradley, Mitzi Hutchens and husband Jason, great-grandchildren Ashley Susan, Amber Susan, Austin Susan, Zachary Johle, Blake Johle, Abigail Tull, Tripp Tull, Jase Tull, Madison Elkins, Ryan Elkins, Cade Elkins, Alex Bradley, Dillon Bradley, Jacob Hutchens, Kelsey Hutchens and her niece Carolyn Palla and nephews Ray Palla, John Hajdik and Charles Hajdik. Honoring Viola as pallbearers are Ray Palla, Augie Svehlak, Ronnie Urbanek, Tandy Betak, Bo Betak, Clint Schroeder honorary pallbearers will be Edward Betak, Anton Pokorny, Paul Pokorny and Gerald Cole. She attended kindergarten at Haude Elementary School in Spring, Texas. She was a vibrant little girl who had an enormous love for life and lived it with such vigor. She loved to sing, dance, play the piano and ride her bike. She loved all things that sparkled and in turn she was a sparkle in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She loved swimming, going to the beach, dressing up, and playing with her cousins and friends. Skylars unconditional love and compassion for people was evident in everything that she did. Obituary: Jewell McLean Pokorny was born 28, 1911 in Stamford, Texas to Henry Allen McLean and Alice Weldon. She was one of seven children born to this union. Jewell passed away , 21, 2010. She married Raymond Victor Pokorny 22, 1932. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Johnny, Jake and Charles McLean; her sisters Ruby Ducote, Myrtle Miles, and Opal Womack. Jewell and Raymond had one son, John Allen Pokorny. Raymond and Jewell made their home in Odessa, Texas in 1942 where Raymond owned a trucking company. moved to San Angelo and lived on Lake Nasworthy in 1962. lived briefly in Del Rio before returning to San Angelo in 1979. Raymond passed away 5, 1993 and Jewell lived by herself until 2010 when she became ill and moved to Arbor Terrace where the folks there took such good care of her. John Allen married a second time to Shirley Rice who presented him with a ready-made family and gave Raymond and Jewell 3 grandchildren: Ronna, Carma and Blaine. Jewell is survived by John and Shirley Pokorny of Odessa, TX, Ronna and Earl Moore of Midland, TX, Carma and George Eary of Laguna Park, TX, Blaine and Sandy Coon of Odessa, TX and John Michael and Kayme Pokorny of Minot, ND; five great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. The Family wishes to thank Willie Alexander for her years of taking care of Jewell while she lived at home; the folks from Meals On Wheels who stopped to visit each day they delivered her meals; the nurses at Arbor Terrace and the folks from Hospice these last few months. Obituary: Frank J. Pokluda Jr, age 93, resided in Houston, Texas, and passed away, , May 2, 2015, at Methodist Hospital after a period of illness. Frank was born 11, 1921, in Schulenburg, Texas, and served his country honorably in WWII from 1942-1945, as a member of the 57th Bomb Wing, and flew missions in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Corsica. He graduated from St. Thomas High School, and worked from 1946-1985 at Superior Oil as a machinist. He was proud of his Czech heritage, and for many years, was active on the board of directors for the Houston Czech Cultural . He was an avid model train collector, and was a long time member of the Train Collector's Association, Lone Star Division. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr., and Anna Pokluda, his first wife, Dorothy Pokluda, and sister, Doris Whatley. He loved life and deeply cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Pokluda; brother, Ralph Pokluda and wife Viola; children, Sue Ann Pokluda Wallace and husband Jere, Frank J. Pokluda III, William Kirten and wife Nancy, John Kirten and wife Elaine , Jesse Kirten, and Eva Kirten and partner Cookie; grandchildren, Billy Fuchlow Wallace, Jamey Pokluda IV, Nikki Pokluda, Tina Ortiz, Faure, Michael Kirten, Lindsay Kirten Skittrall, Lauren Kirten, Courtney Kirten Sanders, David Boak, Kellye Frazie, and Ray-c LeBlanc; great granchildren, Bailey Welsh, Madeline Pokluda, Claire Lane, Spencer Boak, Jacob Boak, David Boak, Addy Boak, Logan Frazier, Natalie Boak, Bennett Frazier, Nathen Frazier, Jayden Sanders, Billy Skittrall, Lincoln Frazier, Conner Sanders, Everly Frazier, and Marjorie LeBlanc; numerous nieces and nephews.
