Obituary: John (J. C.) Calvin Plumlee passed away 14th 2010, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by Dessie, his beloved wife, Jimmy Nelson Davis, his son in law turned son, and Ruby Plumlee, his daughter in law. He was born 17, 1921 to Joseph Emanuel Plumlee and Callie Delinda (Cothran) Plumlee. He grew up during the depression in Seminole, Oklahoma. He had 6 brothers and two sisters. John joined the CCCs on three different occasions; once as a lumberman fighting forest fires all over the states. He helped out his family during the depression years, the first time he was just 14 years old, and he sent his entire earnings home to his parents to help them out with food and clothes. He served in the U. S. Army 3 years, including 6 months overseas as mechanical marine engineer on an L-boat in the Panama Canal. He was in the Ordinance Mechanical Division; he was also a diesel school instructor and taught classes in mechanics in the Army including tank and tractable vehicles. He served in 37th Coast Artillery Battalion while in Panama. He married Dessie Vada Smith and they moved to Dallas, TX where he went to work for Greyhound Bus Lines on the night shift as a diesel mechanic, a trade he learned in the Army. In 1951 he heard things were booming in Odessa, TX and decided to move his family here for a better living for them. He worked for Odessa Motor as a diesel mechanic for 29 years until he retired and worked from his home. He worked hard taking care of his family; he was a good son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. When his beloved wife became ill, he took care of her for many years until he was no longer able to care for her, and we had to put her in a nursing home. He never missed a chance to go see her, to touch or pat her with loving hands. He had to learn to cook, do the laundry and many other things when she became sick, even though his heart was broken, he stayed strong. He overcame many obstacles in his life time, including cancer, he fought hard and won! He was very strong and dedicated, thats what got him through his battles. grew up together living just down a country road from each other as children, in Seminole, Oklahoma.
He was always doing little things for us, like clipping coupons from the paper, picking little flowers from the yard or a field to give to us girls or Mom, finding little heart shaped rocks and giving as presents, or just finding treasures from other peoples trash. You taught us many things, how to play checkers, which you always won! You were there to help us with our homework, you taught us to be honest and hard working, to do what was right and to always take care of our families. The most important thing of all was that family came first. He lost the love of his life 7, 2008. He is survived by 3 children, Delores Spencer, and her husband John Spencer, of Odessa, Texas, Keith (K.C.) Calvin Plumlee of Midland, Texas, and Sandra Spoon of Odessa, Texas. One sister Mourine Plumlee Gentry, of Midwest City, Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren Cathy Imler and husband Kenneth Imler, Mike Davis, Laura Plumlee, Keith Plumlee Jr. and Wife Brandi Plumlee, John Arnold, Rhonda James and husband David James, and Sonny Calvin Spoon and fiancé Melanie Cospelich. Nine great grandchildren Paul Cline, Brandon McCulloch and fiancé Porsche Lind, Rhiannon Fry, Keith Calvin Plumlee III, Jimmy Chase Plumlee, Amanda Arnold, Stephanie Jones, Alexis Spoon, Hannah Cospelich and Lala (Lauryn) Spoon.
May God Bless and Keep you Always! We love you and will miss you dearly,
Love your family!

Love Will Live On
Wherever a beautiful soul has been, the love still there will flower again.
For memories bloom like a garden in spring - the sun still shines, and birds still sing, and a voice of hope seems to whisper like wind.

Loves never lost: love never ends...
Wherever a beautiful soul has been,
In your heart, love will surely live on... In your life, may hope whisper softly...
And in time, may peace and comfort bloom again for you.

Life Lessons
You may have thought I didn see,
Or that I hadn heard,
Life lessons that you taught to me,
But I got every word.
Perhaps you thought I missed it all,
And that wed grow apart,
But Dad, I picked up everything,
Its written on my heart.
Without you, Dad, I wouldn be
The person I am today;
You built a strong foundation
No one can take away.
Ive grown up with your values,
And Im very glad I did;
So heres to you, dear Dad,
From your forever grateful kids!
