▰ Jason Picus

Died February 18, … More Information
Jason Picus, born September 19, 1975 departed this life Sunday February 18, 2016 in Crandall, Texas. Jason was 40. Tags: #Herrington #Irving #Picus #Gerald #Marsha #Gene #Jodi #Marshall #Karlie #Keaton #Korbin #Seagoville #School #University #North #Laude #Lord #Savior #Christ #Dallas #Nolan #Coach #Landry #Cowboys #Cowboy #Jason #Warrior #Central #Church #Texas #Baylor #System #Child #Specialists #Palliative #Specialist #Gaston #Good #Time
Obituary: Jason Michael Picus, 40, ran into the waiting arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 18, 2016. He was born 19, 1975 to Gerald and Marsha Picus in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Pat Herrington and his paternal grandparents Irving and Sue Picus. Left with cherished memories are his father and mother Gerald and Marsha Picus; grandfather Gene Herrington; sister and brother-in-law Jodi and Marshall Green; niece and nephews Karlie, Keaton and Korbin Green; cherished relatives and beloved friends.

Jason graduated Seagoville High School in 1994 and the University of North Texas in 1999 Cum Laude with a BBA degree.

The loves of his life were first and foremost his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family, friends, fishing, Dallas Cowboys and Nolan Ryan. He was the Dallas Cowboys #1 fan and you had better not talk bad about them in front of him. He was especially fond of Coach Tom Landry and always expressed that in his humble, but accurate opinion, he was one of the greatest coaches that the Cowboys have ever had. He always said that win, lose or tie he would be a Cowboy fan until he died. Somehow I think he is still a fan!

When in 2001, he became totally disabled, his life took on a new normal. He wasn’t able to do many of the things he was accustomed to doing. There would be no more walking without assistance, no more breathing without a trach, no more being able to care for himself and no more food or drink by mouth. Those are the things he couldn’t do, but since he tended to be a “glass half full” eternal optimist, he always tried to be grateful for the things he could do. One of Jason’s prayers the night before his surgery was that when he woke up, his memories would not be lost forever…they were not. His mind was as sharp as it always was and he still had his “quick-wit.” One of the precious gifts that he gained from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was his unique ability to pray and become a “Prayer Warrior” as his special ministry.

So here we are 15 years later being grateful for having had Jason in our lives…15 years being drawn closer and closer to GOD…and 15 years trying to learn the lessons we needed to learn on this journey. We will forever be standing in GOD’S presence while anticipating HIS promise and letting GOD do the holding while we do the trusting.

Jason was a member of Central Baptist Church Crandall, Texas and loved his church family with all his heart.

In lieu of flowers please make donations, in Jason's name, to Baylor System Foundation. When making a donation please make sure it is designated as benefitting PC Child Life Specialists. If writing a check make sure to put this in the memo line so that these donations will go directly to the group. All donations will go to the Palliative Child Life Specialist Group. Checks can be mailed to the Baylor System Foundation 3600 Gaston Ave., Ste 100, Dallas, Texas 75246. This organization, run solely on donations, is a group of Child Life Specialists that help support kids whose relatives are seriously ill or are near death. This group is run by the office of the doctor who has treated Jason for almost 16 years. helped Keaton, Karlie and Korbin to come to terms with Jason's death and would please Jason greatly to know he was giving back to them.

GOD Is Good All The Time…And All The Time GOD Is Good!

Please share your memories of Jason and leave condolences for the family at www.roselawn-funerals.com

▰ James Picramenos

Died September 06, … More Information
James Picramenos, born October 4, 1925 went into the presence of the Lord on September 6, 2015 in Texas. James was 89. Tags: #James #Pacific #Shanghai #China #Texas #Houston #Counseling #Department #University #Bachelor #Fine #Purple #Publishing #Engraving #York #Chicago #Room #There #Gillman #Portrait #Johnson #Apollo #Power #Aurora #Colorado #Abstract #Georgina #Harris #Yorgo #Gina #High #Lawrenceville #Georgia
Obituary: James Picramenos was born in Houston, Texas, in 1925. The son of Greek immigrants, George Picramenos and Fani Kepreos, he and his sister, Vaseleke, were raised during the years of the Great Depression. World War II started when he was 14, and by the time he finished junior high the military industry was very developed in the country. James registered for the draft at eighteen and worked at the shipyards building tug boats, while he waited to be recruited. As time went by and he wasn called, he decided to volunteer for the navy in 1943. During his years in the navy, James sailed mainly in the Pacific, with Shanghai, China, as his final destination. I was, what we used to call, a elow deck man´. I was stationed in the engine room and was in charge of loading a 20 millimeter cannon. Like everyone else, I was assigned general duties and general quarters, which were specific positions to cover in case of war emergencies. Luckily, we never saw direct combat with the enemy. the war he was discharged from his duties and did a lot of little jobs. He started working for a water well company, fixing the wells around Texas. a while he returned to Houston, where he worked for a couple of years for a steel mill. It was very hard work and I thought to myself, Do I want to do this for the rest of my life?, so I decided to go to school. At that time, there was a Counseling Service Department for the GI's at the University of Houston. I took an aptitude test and my highest score was in art, so I went to art school and became a "starving" artist, haha. He graduated in 1954 with a BFA Bachelor in Fine Arts. During those years, the concept of the coffee house was developing in Houston, and he was invited by a particular one, The Purple Onion, to go and draw sketches of people. In the meantime he also worked for the Houston Chronicle Publishing at the Engraving Department, preparing photographic material for newspaper reproduction. In 1959 he left for New York with one of his friends. stopped in Chicago, where he stayed for a couple of years, and never made it to New York. During those years people would do the craziest things, from the hippies to the free love followers. In Chicago there was a beatnik bar, the Pad. You could walk through the bar to the back room they called the 'Zen Room.' There where wine bottles with candles on the tables and pillows on the floor. People would go back there, sit on the floor, stare at each other and meditate. I used to go there and sit on a stage, making live portraits of the customers. I also drew in other bars and on the streets as a side-walk artist. One day, while painting on the streets James was approached by a man called Mac Gillman, the owner of a place called The Portrait Gallery. He asked him for a sample of his work and put one of his paintings in the gallery. This way he received several commissions to do portraits.
his time in Chicago he returned to Houston, where he became a technical illustrator. Someone told me a contractor at the Johnson Space was looking for a draftsman, so I went there and presented some of my pastel portraits. told me you don want to do this, do you? And I said Yes, I do, so I got the job. James spent seven years collaborating with NASA, including some drafting for the Apollo Program. that, he worked for thirteen years as an illustrator for the computerized supply book of the Houston Lighting and Power . During all these years he kept frequenting bohemian circles and painting for himself, exploring different styles and techniques. Nowadays, James owns a collection of more than 400 art works, which include landscapes, portraits, still life paintings and several nudes. However, he doesn like the idea of labeling his work, and still has trouble with presenting himself as an artist. At the end, what is art? James has finally decided to show his paintings to the world. When I arrived back in Houston I was right on the verge of doing the same thing that I did in Chicago, but I was offered a job and never did, even though I always wanted to. Nowadays I realize I should have had a manager or an agent. This is what I call my lack of insight in dealing with the business world. In 2012, James moved to Aurora, Colorado. Now that he has retired, he doesn live by the clock anymore and, in confidence, admits that resting in bed has become the most comfortable activity on earth. However, he still enjoys painting, and wants to keep discovering the meaning of art by experimenting with what he calls Abstract realism. I want the painting to suggest itself what it wants to be, and thereby I will merely enhance what its becoming as I work on it. James spent 15 years in Houston Texas with Georgina and Harris Kalaitzidis, he became part of their family and was a grandfather to their children Yorgo and Gina to whom he saw them be born and share High School graduation. He spent the last year's of his life living with them in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
