Obituary: Max Charles Petri, Jr., age 78, returned to the Lord on 27, 2014 with his family at his side. A native San Antonian, Max was born on 10, 1935 to Max Sr. and May (Bilodeau) Petri. He attended St. Henrys Elementary School and later graduated from Central Catholic H.S., class of 53 and then went onto earn his Marketing degree from St. Marys University, class of 57 at which time he was also commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. That same year he married his H.S. sweetheart and new elementary school teacher, Marjorie Necker on 22nd. Max proudly served his country for over 11 years including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He came back with many interesting stories about his experiences while there. He attained the rank of Major in Feb 1968. He earned many military awards including 3 Bronze Stars, 2 Army Commendation Medals and the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. His last tour of duty was at Ft. Richardson (Anchorage), Alaska where his sixth child was born. Here is where he began his love of the Boy Scout Organization leading his own boys and many others for over 20 years. 2 ½ years in Alaska he returned to San Antonio and civilian life. His Civil Service years as a Construction Inspector were spent at Ft. Sam Houston and Kelly AFB from which he retired in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, boating, water and snow skiing, golfing, gardening and tackling many do-it-yourself projects. He loved creating fun for himself, family and friends and was especially proud of his home renovations which he designed himself particularly his game room. During his tenure as Cub Master of Pack 445, he was awarded the St. George Medal by the Catholic Committee on Scouting. As an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 445, he was inducted into the Order of the Arrow of Alamo Area Council. A highlight of his scouting years was the horseback trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He was a devout member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was among the first group selected to be Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. He continued this ministry for 35 years. He was active in the Holy Name Society, where he was designated the Blessed Sacrament Outstanding Holy Name Member in 2007. He also coached in the CYO Baseball Program and helped to build the parish baseball field. Additionally he was active in the Knights of Columbus, ACTS and the VSP. Max was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Maxine Rosen and husband Norm, brother-in-law Jimmy Tips and sister-in-law Linda Necker. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 57 years, Margie Petri; their children: Annette Scott (Sam), Ken Petri (Donna), Brian Petri, Danny Petri (Ruby), Andy Petri (Anna-Laura) and Claire Abad (Robert); grandchildren: Amanda Patrick (DJ), Heather Litman (James), Jennifer LaBorde, Kimberly and Ashley Scott; Michael and Morgan Petri; Jacob and Corey Petri; Gregory and Avelina Petri; Madeline, AJ and Krystal Petri; Jordan and Madison Abad; great-grandchildren: Mark, Chris, Jalen, Katie, Rylan and Leo. He also leaves behind his brother Martin Petri (Donna) and sister Martha Brown (Tom), sister-in-laws Rosemary Tips and Dottie Knodell (Tom) and brother-in-law John Necker and finally many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the people who helped to care for Max during his long illness: Drs David Talley, Robert Yerrington and Edwin Whitney; all the nurses, caregivers and therapists from Abiding (especially Amy) and Grace Hospice (especially Jenine and Marivel); Spiritual Support from Fr.s John ODonoghue and Michael OGorman, Deacons JD Jorgensen and Frank Martinez. Obituary: Lillie Mae Petri (Grammie), 79, was granted her angel wings on 31, 2014, with her family by her side in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Harper, Texas, on 16, 1935 to Karl and Lena Klaehn. Mae graduated from Harper High School where she played basketball and softball. Mae was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband Billie Joe Petri. Billie Joe and Mae established their home in Blanco, Texas. She is survived by her son, Billy Dwayne Petri and Cynthia Horvath of Blanco; brother, Hilmar Klaehn of Seguin; sister, Wanda Lott of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren, Colt Petri and wife Amy of Blanco, Keisha Petri of Blanco, and Kalyn Massey of Fredericksburg; and one great granddaughter, Addison Tober of Blanco; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Her interests included being with family, gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking and baking, and watching the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys play. Mae devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family. She always looked forward to hunting season where she would spend most of her time at the family home in Harper. Obituary: On 19, 2013, Jimmy Calvin Petrey found peace and good health in the comfort of his Lords arms. Jim was born on 15, 1950 in Miles, Texas to Lou Ella Denney Petrey and Preston Wayne Slim Petrey, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him are: his brother Gene Petrey; brother-in-laws, Jack Reynolds, Howard Newsom, and Hervis Shelton Newsom; Sister-in-law, Frances Petrey; nephews Jeremy Petrey, Wayne Petrey, Randy Reynolds, Carl Don Petrey, and Henry Jason Petrey; and niece Sherry Newsom. Jim graduated from Miles High School in 1969 and Tarrant Junior in 1977. Jim proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1970-1971 with the HHC 1/10th Infantry Sixth United States Army, where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device, Vietnam Service Medal 2/1 Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Maybe this is where Jim learned to fight the good fight, because he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, coach, neighbor, and anything else he needed to be even as he fought multiple health issues and battled so hard in the end. Jim married the love of his life, Martha Helen Newsom, on 30, 1973. enjoyed 40 wonderful years together. To this union were born Kristi Cheyne Petrey and Preston Cory Petrey, who were the greatest joys of his life. When his grandchildren were born, Jims life became complete. Shelton Calvin, Laci Morgan, and Reid Preston were the lights of his life. Jims entire family was very important to him. He hosted the annual Petrey Family reunion at his home and proudly rode on the Petrey Family float in the Miles Cotton Festival Parade. Jim served on the Miles ISD School Board and was a member of Miles United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, sharing his love of the outdoors with his friends and family. He was a baseball coach and umpire when his children were growing up. He thoroughly enjoyed his time coaching and thought of all of his players as his boys. Jim was an avid fan of Kristi and Cory in everything they did. He was an even more avid fan of his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his loving wife Martha; daughter Kristi and son Cory, grandchildren Shelton, Laci, and Reid all of Miles, Texas; sister Jane Reynolds of San Saba, brother Don Petrey of Miles, Sister Linda Nurmi of San Angelo, and Roger Petrey and wife Laurie of Sachse, Texas. Also surviving Jim are his brother-in-law Harold Newsom and wife Jeane of Sarepta, LA; sister-in-law Mary Clark and husband James of Gainesville, FL. He also leaves behind his lifelong best friend R.B. Wright, his domino partner Mary Ann Petrey, tons of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great nieces, and many, many friends. There will be a short Military Graveside service on , 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Miles , Miles, TX followed by a Celebration of Life Service at the Miles United Methodist Church, Miles, TX.
