Obituary: Robert Bobby Payne, 35, of Manvel, passed away on , 8, 2015. He was born in Webster on 22, 1980 to Robert G. Payne, Jr. and Jean Payne. Obituary: Robert Bob Payne of Leander, Texas died on 12, 2015. Bob was born in Big Spring, Texas on 19 1938. His family moved to Pasadena, California, during World War II, returning to Texas where they lived in Midland, Quemado, Lake Jackson, and Bay City, where he joined the Navy in 1955, retiring in 1979 after a 25 year career. Mr. Payne served with honor in many foreign countries both at sea and ashore including a tour at Guantanamo Naval Base, Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crises and a combat tour with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam. A much decorated veteran, Bob received 63 medals, ribbons, awards, decorations and Letter citations during his naval service. Bob married Edith Smith of Ijamsville, Maryland in 1962 and their son Walter was born at the Naval Academy, Annapolis. Their daughter, Maria was born in Montrose, Scotland. The Payne family served tours of duty in Scotland, Hawaii, Guam, Jacksonville, Florida, and Washington, D.C. Upon his retirement in 1979, Bob became the Manager of Facilities for MRI/Intel, later SAS Institute Inc. of Austin, Texas where he served for 23 years before retiring for the second, and final, time. He was active in community affairs, volunteering with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and the Temple, Texas and Cedar Park, Texas Veterans Affairs Offices. He sat on the Military Affairs Council of the Austin Chamber of Commerce and was active in the International Facilities Management Association and the Williamson Republican Party. Bob liked to hunt, play golf, and write in his spare time. He authored three books, including Earharts Flight into Yesterday\\ and wrote political essays, letters, poems and other stuff. Bob served as Editor of the Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association (NCVA) newsmagazine, CRYPTOLOG and edited the VA newsletter, REACHOUT and the award winning IFMA Journal. Bob served as an officer in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and as a member of the Military Officers of America, the American Legion, The Fleet Reserve Association and the Disabled American Veterans organizations. He also found time to volunteer at the Williamson Museum in Georgetown, Texas and became a tour guide and docent at the Historic old Williamson Courthouse. He also portrayed Robert McAlpin Williamson, who was known as Three Legged Willie. Bob was an accomplished public Speaker and much in demand as a Guest Speaker in the Central Texas area. Bob is survived by his wife, Edith and his son Walter, daughter Maria, grandson Robert and his three sisters, Zona Faye, Jackie, and Debbie, and a large, extended family, all of whom he loved deeply and completely. Bobs final request is that we all remember, The Golden Rule Applies, in all things, at all times and in all places. Memorial Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. , 21st, at the Williamson Courthouse on the 2nd floor. In lieu of flowers please donate blood if you are able, any blood-bank is fine. Obituary: FORT WORTH—Richard Allen “Rocky” Payne, age 66, passed away on , 29, 2015. Memorial Service: 10 a.m., at Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes Richard, better known as Rocky, was born 25, 1949 in Lawrenceburg, KY. Though he would go on to gain a high school education, he would inevitably become enlisted in military service. His efforts in the army and the Vietnam War at large allowed him to return as a decorated veteran, with several medals and Purple Hearts to his name. wards, he went on to work at Blackmon Mooring, and through a strong work ethic and perseverance, became a superintendent at BMS Catastrophe. Over the years, Rocky traveled across the world to perform his duties. He had the friends and co-workers as proof, as well as a family that always awaited his journeys home: Donnalita, his wife of thirty-one years, and his sons Richard and Rhamy. Family or otherwise, those that spent even a moment with him knew him as a stalwart and reliable man. Few could ever match his efforts on the job, but he could prove in an instant how personable he could be. As an avid golfer and a sports enthusiast, he could make lifelong friends no matter what he did or where he went. Rocky was, and always will be, an esteemed soldier, a diligent worker, a trusted provider, and an incredible man. Though he may have left this world and scores of people who will miss him, the bonds he forged and the examples he made will live on in his stead. Richard Allen Payne Jr. is survived by his two sons, Richard and Rhamy of Fort Worth, TX; wife, Donnalita of Fort Worth, TX; brother, David Lee Payne of Lawrenceburg, KY; his aunt, Lacey Cunningham and uncle Wallace Bean of Lawrenceburg, KY; uncle Lucien Bean of New Jersey; two surviving sisters Anita Thomas and Barbara Jean Payne of Kentucky; nephews David Lee Payne Jr. and Lewis Payne; nieces Desndra Payne and Gloria Payne. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Payne Sr. and Beulah Gill of KY. He will be honored by a host of cousins, friends, and workers. He and his family offer a special thanks to Danny Williams. Richard “Rocky” Payne will be dearly missed, but the memories he helped create and the lessons he imparted shall live on through us all. |

Rhonald was born on 9, 1934 to R.O. Payne and Hazel (Martin) Payne in Merkel, Texas. He worked in oilfield industry for about 45 years and 30 of those years were with West Tex Drilling Co. He then worked for the Merkel ISD for about 10 years before retiring. Rhonald married Melba Bleeker in Mexico on 5, 1952 and they were married 49 years. He loved to fish with his dad and granddad and liked to play pool. He also loved his chihuahua, Tiny. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Robert Payne; and one niece, Susan Marie Payne. Survivors include his wife, Melba of Merkel; his son, Troy Lee Payne of Oplin; his daughter, Rhonda LaJean Payne of Abilene; brothers, Glen Payne and wife, Phyllis of Lake Buchannan Dam, TX and Elton Payne and wife, Beverly of Searcy, AR; a sister, Betty Freeman and husband, Ronnie of Trent; a granddaughter, Christina Richardson; and several nieces and nephews. |
