Obituary: James K. "Jim" Patton, 91, of Odessa, Texas, went to be with his heavenly Father , Nov. 5, 2014, in Meadow Creek in San Angelo, Texas. He was born 12, 1923, to Jessie and Myrtle Patton in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He grew up in Sweetwater, Texas, where he met and married Betty Jane Earp. He served in the military during WWII, returned to Sweetwater and ran a milk business. He moved his family to Odessa, Texas, in 1954, and owned Metzger's Milk. Later in his life, he started T-West Siding and then American Improvement in Odessa. Jim loved golf and dancing and was able to do those things until about three years ago. He missed his friends from Senior Citizen's dancing and his golfing buddies. He also missed the friends he knew from working out at Odessa . Furr's on Andrews Highway was his longtime lunch meeting place, and the precious people who work there were and are considered extended family. We picked up many meals for Dad long after he was not able to go, and we thank them for being so wonderful to Dad and to us. James was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; and his second wife, Winnie. He is also preceded in death by all of his brothers, S.E. "Pat" Patton, Jack Patton and Herbert Patton; and sisters Clinnie, Merle and Mazie. He is survived by daughter Barbara Patton; son Ken Patton and wife Teresa; son Mel Patton and life partner, Mimi; and son Van Patton and wife Karen. He is survived by his loving granddaughter, Dorley and husband Walt Harris; grandsons Bonner Patton, Adam Patton and J.D. Patton; great-grandchildren Ty, Braden Wyatt, Cheyenne and Emma Rae; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks and great appreciation go to Faith Garcia and Linda Porter with Comfort Keepers in San Angelo, for the loving and skilled care they gave to Dad. We are so thankful for all of the caretakers, Virginia, Mary, Ashley, Sara, Nancy and so many more that consistently were so good to Dad from Comfort Keepers. Special thanks also goes out to Dad's longtime helper, driver and caretaker, Alicia Segovia, who helped Dad stay mobile and added so much to his life. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. , Nov. 13, 2014, in Pioneer Memorial Park in Grape Creek, Texas. are by Johnson's in San Angelo.
