Obituary: George Patrick - who was affectionately known by all of his friends as "Pat" was born May 19, 1921 in Glenrock, Wyoming. He died 4, 2015 in Pearland, Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie, and his equally beloved daughter Molly. His parents both died when he was very young so he was raised by his much older brother John and his wife Marie in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He graduated from high school there and went to work for a construction company. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, he immediately enlisted in the Army. He served in Iraq and Iran as well as France and Germany until he was discharged when the war ended. When he returned home he again went to work in the construction industry - this time constructing radio and television towers for a company based in Texas. His work took him all over the U.S. as well as Cuba on a few occasions. While working in Crane, TX, a very small town in far west Texas, he met Marie Trice. She was a bookkeeper but also worked in the local cafe as the nighttime cashier. married 3 short months later on 21, 1946 and were married 8 months shy of 50 years when she passed away in of 1996. Thirteen months later, daughter Molly was born and 1 year and 1 day after that, Cindy was born. bought a Spartan house trailer and traveled all over the U.S. wherever his work took him until it was time for Molly to start school. bought a home in southeast Houston where they lived until 1970 when they bought their dream house in Pearland where he lived for the rest of his life. Being in the construction industry afforded him the opportunity to obtain his pilot's license and his company bought him a Cessna 172. He cherished every hour he logged in that airplane. He left construction work in the early 1960's when the strain of all of the travel and too much time away from home and family became too much. He went to work for the City of Houston as a Public Works inspector and worked there until he retired in 1982. He loved to go camping and to fish in the surf at Freeport and San Luis Pass. He and Marie were very active members of a lively bridge club for years. he retired, he began to build model airplanes and became quite accomplished at that hobby. He also took a class and became an Auxiliary Officer with the Pearland Police Department. He loved his dogs more than life and was forever grateful to Joan and Tom Miskelly for giving his beloved Skeeter a forever home when he was no longer confident of his ability to care for him properly. Pat is survived by his daughter and son in law, Cindy and David Howell; grandchildren Jason Olbrich, Nicole Todd, Melissa Dirks, and Bryan Davis; and great-grandchildren Austin Todd, Tyler Davis, Anna Olbrich, and Ashley Davis. A visitation will be held , 8, 2015 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East . The Celebration of Pats Life will be held , 9, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park East with interment to immediately follow at Forest Park East . |

Obituary: Erin Winifred Patrick, born 9, 1920 in San Antonio, Texas, died at the age of 87 years. The youngest child of Sidney Virgil Patrick and Mary Staunton McFadden Patrick. She was educated at Our Lady of the Lake Elementary, Nathaniel Hawthorne Junior High, Thomas Jefferson High School, and Our Lady of the Lake graduating in 1939. In 1940 she and a close friend became the first two lady teachers at St. GerardÂs. Erin did graduate studies in mathematics and statistics at the University of Texas in Austin. She was active in Jefferson Alumni Association; Past President of St. MonicaÂs Guild, Alamo Mission Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas serving two terms on the State Board of Management during the Sesquicentennial of Texas, and the San Antonio Conservation Society. In 1942, Erin began her career in Civil Service working in the office Censorship until 1945 transferring to Brooke Army Hospital in what was then known as Educational Reconditioning evolved into Business and Academic School serving as its Assistant Director until 1957 when she transferred to the Defense Language Institute at Lackland Air Force Base. She served as Instructor supervisor until her retirement in 1975. During her career, Erin received many awards and commendations including the Meritorious Service and Superior Accomplishment Awards as well as being a nominee for a Fulbright Fellowship. Because of her work with the Colombian military that had been wounded in Korea as well as the Colombian Doctor studying at BAMC, she was invited to participate in some of the festivities in Cartagena Colombia welcoming the Colombian Navy ship home from Korea. In 1965, she and her sister were guests of the Guatemalan Air Force as well as visiting former students in El Salvador and Nicaragua. While in Colombia Erin was honored at a reception where the leading newspaper did an interview and picture shoot for the front page detailing her work with foreign students both at Brooke Army Medical and the Defense Language Institute. The President of Colombia invited Erin and her sister for a private evening visit where he gave them a personal tour of the President Palace. Two days later they were his guests on a flight to Cali in her home state. Erin was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Eleanor Murray Patrick, Sidney Virgil Patrick, Hubert Staunton Patrick, Austin McFadden Patrick, Alice Patrick Honan and David Preston Patrick. Erin is survived by five nieces and nephews; ten great nieces and nephews and great grandnephews and nieces; numerous cousins and friends. |
