Obituary: Clarence Hurshell Parsons, 84, was born to Clarence and Clara Parsons on 11, 1931 in Dallas, Texas and passed away 8th, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Parsons graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Southern Methodist University both in Dallas, TX. Mr. Parsons was an officer in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his loving wife Nell Parsons, grandson Trevor Parsons, grandson Christopher Parsons and two great-grand daughters Cambria and Ryah of Houston and numerous cousins and friends. He spent many of his working years in outside sales and appreciated personal interaction. A very charming and disarming man, he was a happy presence that brought smiles to those around him and was adored by those that were close to him. His favorite pastime after retirement became the stock market and taking his two dogs Gizmo and Gucci on walks. He was close to God and shared his testimony to everyone who would listen. He was a man that lived miracles most only read about. He is resting now with his Mother, Father, Son and his Creator. Man should not be judged on his fallacies alone as all men have them but rather judged by something so personal that it speaks to each individual separately with a unique voice. Nothing is more personally subjective than a body of work called ones life. A Service will be held at 2:00 pm , 12, 2015 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, Texas. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park . |

Obituary: Cecil Mannefeld Parsons was born Cecil Ruth Barnes on 26, 1931. She was born at home on a farm near Raleigh, Texas in western Navarro , the 6th of 7 surviving children to Willie Lena and William Jefferson Barnes, the granddaughter of one of Americas last pioneers. Cecils schooling was in an old one room school, where later in her education, she assisted in the teaching of the younger children. She later graduated from Blooming Grove High School, Class of 1948, Growing up, she worked on the family farm, surely a source of her work ethics. Upon graduation from high school, she took the path of her older siblings and moved to Dallas. She went to Draughons Business School and then went to work for Republic National Bank. There she met William Mannefeld, whom she married in 1953. Mr. Mannefeld was a manufacturers rep in the clothing business. had 5 children, Bill in 1954, Barry in 1955, twins Cynthia and Cecilia in 1957 and Mary in 1960. During this time, Cecil had her hands full raising children and was a stay at home mother. The family attended St. Pauls Catholic Church during this period. With the small home in Richardson, Texas bursting at the seams, the family moved to a much larger home in Plano in 1963. Their home was so situated as to allow for operation of an office in the bottom floor and Cecil started dabbling in the real estate business as a part time source of income. As the 1960s progressed, she became more and more involved in real estate and by 1969, she was fully involved in the operation of Cecil Mannefeld Real Estate. In the then growing town of Plano, Cecil became recognized as a real estate pioneer and an astute business woman. As the town grew, so did Cecils business. She and her first husband divorced in 1969 and she later married Jack Parsons, in 1975. During the growth era of the 1970s, she bought one of the first Red Carpet real estate franchises in Texas and operated under the name Cecil Mannefeld Parsons until 1988. She then retired to manage her properties and enjoy her grandchildren. She stayed active in these endeavors until age 81, when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoid leukemia. Cecils determination in life carried over to her fight with this fatal disease. We watched her persevere through the failure of drug after drug, never giving up the fight. She took care of her business, despite the disability of the disease and showed the discipline that allowed her to succeed her entire life. She continued to enjoy bridge and family get-togethers and was an active participant to the end. It was the combination of her upbringing and her desire that allowed Cecil to live a full life. As tragic as the disease was that ended her life, she enjoyed over 81 years of good health, entertaining her grandchildren, cooking holiday meals, making Christmas special and traveling with her granddaughter Heather. Her family is grateful for her healthy presence in their lives. She touched so many. Ms. Parsons is survived by her sister Margie Ruth and her 5 children: Bill Mannefeld, Barry Mannefeld, Cynthia Brugge, Cecilia Kronstad and Mary Crews, and her 11 grandchildren: Isaiah Kronstad, Heather Mannefeld, Melissa Mannefeld, Cindy Brugge, Allison Brugge, Caroline Brugge, Brianna Crews, Ian Crews, Laura Crews, Nicholas Crews, and Joe Crews. She was preceded in death by her first spouse William Mannefeld, second spouse Jack Parsons, sisters Lerleen Brooks, Zerlene Healy, Carl Lee Thomas, Francis Manley and brother Ben Barnes. A Memorial Mass will be held on , 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plano. Ted Dickey of Plano has charge of arrangements. |

Obituary: CARRIE LUCILLE SMITH PARSONS Carrie Smith Parsons was born in Royal, Louisiana in Winn Parish on May 13, 1918 to Daniel Franklin Smith and Rilla Ola Abrams Smith. Her Louisiana roots were deep with her family settling in Winn Parish in the 1830s. Her father, her uncle Walt Smith and her grandfather Robert P. Smith owned and operated a cotton gin in Sikes, LA. Carrie graduated from Sikes High School in 1934, attended Louisiana Tech where she was a music major, and later in her life The Victoria where she pursued business courses. She married John Eaton Parsons in 1940 and to that union was born their daughter Barbara. Early in her life, she was recognized as having an astounding singing voice, and was often called upon to perform at church services and for other community occasions. She was blessed with a lyric soprano voice that was described by one of her music coaches as a voice in a million. When she lived in Monroe, Louisiana in 1936-1940 she regularly sang on Radio Station KMLB. Throughout her life she sang opera arias at home to the delight of her neighbors. Her remarkable talent was inherited by her granddaughter Claire, whose voice is the violin, the instrument closest to the human voice. Carrie took great pride in Claires musical career. She was an avid gardener and lover of animals. She was able to distinguish with great accuracy a wide range of bird calls because of her keen musical ear. She had a love for opera her entire life, for the literature of musical theatre, and was able to sing the repertoire even in her late years. In her mature years, she took it upon herself to learn the piano repertoire of George Gershwin, which was a delight to her family, as she played the music beautifully, and from the heart. Some of her most vivid recollections and anecdotes included traveling through and living in many states across America during WWII. Carrie enjoyed a successful career as Secretary/Treasurer and Corporate Officer of Victoria Well Service Corp. 25 years with the company, she retired at age 65 and spent many of those retirement years traveling to and from Louisiana to visit family and friends. She fondly recalled a description of Winn Parish by a State Economist as having pine trees so tall they tickled the angels feet. Carrie was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brothers and sisters Fred Smith, Clara Smith Bookout, Wallace Smith, Ray Smith, Marie Smith, Ross Smith and Doris Putman. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Parsons Smith (David), granddaughter Claire Smith Bermingham (Bryce) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, and Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century. A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. May 5, 2016. Burial will be at Memorial Park . Honorary pallbearers are David Atmar Smith, Bryce Bermingham, Ferral Guillory, Dan Putman, David Collins, John R. Smith, Jr., Danny Smith, Bill Evans and Elton Tuch.
