Obituary: Services for Herman H. Parrish, Jr., 89, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. , 16, 2016 in the Gipson Chapel, with Pat Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial . Mr. Parrish was born 30, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Susan (Bynum) and Herman H. Parrish, Sr. He passed away , 13, 2016 in a local nursing facility. Mr. Parrish was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and attended school in Lufkin. He married Lucille Lewing in 1943. He went to work at Lufkin Industries in 1943 and retired with 43 years of service. He married Maxine Boles in 1992. He loved his family and his dogs and enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling. He could fix anything. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Parrish was a member of Union Road Church of Christ and was a good Christian example. Survivors include his daughter, Betty Murphy of Spurger; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Katie Parrish and Jason and Charlotte Parrish, all of Lufkin; stepsons, Trent Havard and Trace Havard and wife Michelle, both of Longview; grandchildren, Duane Murphy, Susan Levesque, Colin Parrish, Brandon Parrish, and Alana Cummings; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Lewing and wife Barbara of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Parrish in 1990; second wife, Maxine Parrish in 2012; and sisters, Mary Tervort and Dorothy Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Brandon Parrish, Clay Cummings, Alfred Torres, Colin Parrish, Duane Murphy, and David Gordon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Parrishs memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75904 The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. evening at the funeral home. Obituary: G.W. Parrish From Grace to Glory. G.W. Parrish was a man who loved God and cherished family. He was slow to talk, listened with true intent and spoke with quite confidence and polite authority. Texas lost a true ambassador for Christ and heaven has welcomed a faithful servant. G. W. Parrish, of the Ohio Community in Hamilton , departed this earth on 14, 2014. My flesh and my heart falter in weakness, but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever (Psalm73:26). He was born in Hamilton on 25, 1928, where he lived the majority of his 86 years. He married Marion Henderson on 9, 1973. Known to many of his nieces and nephews as Sampson (Sampie) because of this strength, G.W. place high value on family and friends, and took great enjoyment from the land and livestock. He was an accomplished horseman who truly liked handling horses and working cattle, sheep and goats. G.W. was a graduate of Tarleton State University. He served active duty in the Korean War. As an accomplished seismograph technician, he travelled across the United States. G.W. also served several years as a Superintendent with the Texas Prison System in Gatesville. The majority of his life was spent farming and raising livestock in Hamilton , where he lived with his wife Marion for the past 40 years. A devout Christian, he was baptized in the waters of Cowhouse Creek. As an adult, he was always helping others, whether it be teaching young people about life outdoors, or providing direct assistance to those in need. G.W. eventually purchased an old rock building and with the help of several Christian friends, converted it into the Ohio Baptist Church. That little church is a direct reflection of the words of Jesus when he said For where two or more gather together as my followers, I am there among them (Matthew 18:20). Always humble and grateful, G.W. was quoted only a few months ago on Easter as saying The Lord has been really good to me. G.W. Parrish was preceded in death by parents George and Bivian Parrish of Hamilton and sister Sarah Woolner of Wichita Falls. He is survived by his wife Marion Parrish, son James Frank Jackson, daughter Gail Bueker and husband Billy, sister Maurice Gibbs and husband Tom, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and cousins. Mr. Parrish was a longtime Director of the Live Oak Association. His service will be held there at the Live Oak on , 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. for family and close friends. As Jesus said in the parable of the servants to explain the kingdom of heaven, Well done good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter into the joy of the Lord (Matthew 25:23). Although he will be missed, G.W Parrish has entered the eternal kingdom of heaven. |

Obituary: Iona Parrish, 88, passed away , 23, 2013 in a local hospital. Services will be held today, , at 1:00 p.m. at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories , directed by Elliott-Hamil , 5701 Hwy 277 South. Mrs. Parrish was born in Winganon, Oklahoma, the daughter of Hine and Anna M. Shaw Patton on May 3, 1925. She had previously worked as a secretary at the Abilene State School. She loved her personal library focusing on holistic medicine. Iona also loved her pets and gardening and her favorite apple and pecan trees. She won first prize at the West Texas Fair for her pencil tree. She was a Baptist. Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Goldie; her brother, Lenzy; and grandson, Jasen. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Parrish of Abilene; two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Danny McQueen of Nalley, Alabama, and Vanessa and Pat Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Rosanna Dorough of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
