Obituary: Doris Mae Hargus Parks, 92, formerly of Paris, passed away , 7, 2016 at Laurenwood and Rehabilitation in Duncanville. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, , 10, 2016, at Bright-Holland Chapel, with burial following in Detroit . The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time, at the funeral home. Doris was born 29, 1924 in Detroit, TX to Alfred Pete Hargus and Jenny Katherine Toney Hargus. She attended Detroit Elementary school and graduated from Detroit High School in 1942. In her early years, Doris took piano lessons and tap dancing lessons, which she dearly loved, causing her to continue dancing for many years. She married Jesse Earl Perkins in 1949. In 1950, Doris and Jesse had a daughter Donna Sue, that was born in McKinney. In 1951, the family moved to Paris and bought a home on East Washington Street. The following year their daughter, Sheila Kay was born in Paris. According to Doris, her daughters were the best thing that ever happened to her. Since she loved to sew and she made all their clothing, plus her own and sometimes shirts for their dad. She used leftover material to make doll clothes to match her daughter’s clothes. Doris loved working in her yard and every spring her yard was the envy of the neighborhood. She often said she had rather be digging in the dirt, planting flowers, than cleaning house, yet her house was always spotless. Doris loved cooking and was the perfect hostess—always having food and beverages to serve on a moment’s notice. Sheila always described her as “Miss Personality”, because she made everyone feel special and welcome. Doris was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church from 1957 to 1964. During her working years she was a seamstress at Hollywood Vasserette and Nahas of Paris. She was a secretary at Foxworth-Galbreath Lumber and worked in the District Lab at The Texas Highway Department. Doris loved working at the Highway Department where she made many friends, whom she has kept in touch with over the years. She had a great boss in Mr. Bill Thomas, who sadly passed away in 2015. retiring in 1987, she loved having lunch with the other highway department retirees, known as “The Snipes and Snipettes.” In 1995, Doris moved to Vagas Drive, and lived there until 2013, when she moved to Parkview, which is an independent senior community in Allen, Texas, to be near her daughter, Sheila. Several of her school friends and highway department friends came there to visit with her. She eventually migrated to Laurenwood to be near her daughter Donna. Preceding Doris in death were her parents; an older brother, Norris Hargus, who was killed in World War II and her last husband, Ralph Parks, who passed away in 2004. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Perkins Butcher & husband Allen of Cedar Hill and Sheila Perkins Glenn & husband Randy of Plano; grandsons, Russell Shannon & wife Catherine of Corinth, Daryl Glenn & wife Whitney of Plano and Jeffrey Glenn of Plano; a step-grandson, Charlie Butcher & wife Regina of Hallsville; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ian Shannon of Corinth, Courtney Edmondson & husband Gene of Hallsville, Chuck Butcher & wife Molly of San Diego, CA and Cody Butcher & wife McKenzie of Georgia; a great-great-grandchild, Vivienne Edmondson of Hallsville along with a host of friends. |

Obituary: David Apache Dave Lee Parks, 39 years old, passed away , 11, 2013 in Denison, TX. He was born in Midwest City, OK to Becky & Dan Parks on , 6, 1974. He graduated from high school in Burkburnett, TX in 1991, graduating top of his class from the school of hard knocks. He worked in the oil and gas industry for 13 years. He was proud to consider himself oilfield trash. Dave had an enormous heart and loved spending time with his three girls and everyone that held a special place in his heart. He was a member of the Banshees Motorcycle Club; he enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting guns and reeking chaos everywhere he went. Dave was also known for that unmistakable warped sense of humor...which we all appreciated. On 5, 2008 he married his wife Lindsey in Sherman, TX. He was preceded in death by his uncle Lee Parks, grandparents Chuck and Joye Parks; Julia and George Romero.
