Obituary: Leslie Allen Palmer, 87, passed away the morning of , Oct. 30, 2009, at his home. Service: 12:30 p.m. at Moore , 1219 N. Davis Drive. Leslie Palmer was the fifth child born to Edward L. and Buelah J. Palmer on Aug. 4, 1922 near Merkel. His siblings are Ollie Matthews, Opal Winn, Earl Palmer, Nolan Palmer and Eddie Palmer. Mr. Palmer was a member of the Masonic Lodge (since 1952, 32nd-degree), Order of the Eastern Star (Abilene) and First Christian Church. Prior to the beginning of World War II, Mr. Palmer served in the Army. He was the owner/operator of the Magnolia Service Station in Abilene and also owner/founder of Leslie Palmer Construction , established 1950 in Abilene then relocated to Arlington in 1969. Mr. Palmer retired from the construction business in 2002 at the age of 80. On 18, 1953, Leslie married his sweetheart, ll Ann Baker, in Austin. Their family was blessed with four children, Pamela Williams Sprague of Helotes, Ronald Clark Williams of Heber Springs, Ark., Bill P. Williams of Great Barrington, Mass., and Leslie Allen Palmer Jr. of Waco. The family lived in Abilene for 16 years. The Palmers have resided in Arlington since 1969. Mr. Palmer was an honorable and respected husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him. We are blessed to have had Leslie Allen Palmer in our lives.
