Obituary: PADDIE Joseph E. Paddie, Joe passed into the Kingdom of our heavenly father on , 23, 2010. His death was as a result of a fall at his home in San Antonio. He lived a good life for 93 years, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born on 18, 1917 to John B. and Alice Basco Paddie, was the first son to them. All in all, he grew up into a family of 5 boys and 5 girls in a small community in Gorum, LA. With such a large family, he quit school after 7 or 8 years, and when he turned 17, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps to help his parents, brothers and sisters by sending money home to them. serving in the CCC, he joined the U.S Marine Corps, for a short period of time with an honorable discharge. Friends from Texas visiting in the area there in Gorum, LA. Talked him into coming to Texas, and in 1938 he came to San Antonio, liked it so much he decided to stay, found work and has been here since. He still was sending money home to help his family. He met and dated Helen Beaver after a long courtship and they married on 28, 1943. She was working at Fort Sam Houston then. spent their honeymoon at his parents home in Louisiana. were blessed with a baby girl the following year. Joe got a good job with more pay at Kelly AFB in 1941. In the meantime he and Helen were blessed again with a baby boy in 1950. several years being a mother and housewife, Helen returned to work at Kelly, AFB, served in the Procurement and Production as secretary to the Director up until 1975 after 30 years of service, Joe retired in May of 1975 after 33 years with Kelly AFB. She and Joe traveled to Germany to visit their daughter and her Air Force husband, they took time off to drive us to 6 or 8 other countries, including Switzerland, Austria, France and others. What beautiful memories. When they were stationed in Hawaii, we were happy to go visit them again on that gorgeous island. Now back home in Devine, Texas and both retired, they are close to home. Our son retired from DuPont after 25 years, gave us 3 grandchildren, 2 beautiful girls and a boy. Getting back to Joe, he became a Mason, and belongs to Bluebonnet Lodge No. 1219 AF&AM where he just received his 60 years membership pin in this year. He became a 32nd degree Shriner and was generous with his money in donating to the Alzafar Shrine Childrens Hospital in Houston and Galveston. Joe loved the outdoors and liked to putter around the yard, loved to sit on our front porch and watch the school children walk by, waved and talked to them. As far as hobbies, he really didn have any special hobby, just loved to be in and out of our home. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen; daughter, Linda Sluiter and husband, Michael; son, Larry Paddie; grandchildren, Holly Slagle of Mendenhall, England Newell, Shannon Paddie of Austin, TX, Derek Paddie of Baytown, TX; and three great grandchildren, Ariel, Tristan and Mia Slagle; He left behind sister, Cleo Kerry; brothers, George Leroy, Louis Cleveland and Jack Paddie. Visitation will be on , 25, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring. SERVICE SATURDAY JUNE 26, 2010 10:00 A.M. Obituary: Wayne R. Paddack passed away at his Corpus Christi residence on 20, 2015. He was born in Three Lakes, WI on 6, 1937. He served proudly in the United States Army for 22 years and is a Vietnam War Veteran. He was married on 28, 1958 to his loving wife Elfriede of 56 years. retiring from the Army in 1978 he moved to Corpus Christi and was proud to call Texas his home for the last 37 years. Wayne is survived by his wife Elfriede, two children Shirley McNeill (Steven), and Michael Paddack (Merry Jo), 4 grandchildren Stephanie Balderrama, Samantha McNeill, Michael Paddack, and Megan Paddack, and one great grandchild Zachary Balderrama. He is also survived by brothers, Rene and Donald Paddack and sister, Kathy Anderson. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Christus Spohn Hospice and particularly to Nurse Karin and Chaplain Christi for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made by donations to Christus Spohn Hospice. There will be a Memorial Service at Cage-Mills Directors on , 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm. |
