Obituary: Patsy Elaine Heithcock was born in Franklin, Tennessee on May 3, 1964 to parents Beverly Marlin and Clifton Heithcock. She was the youngest of three siblings, with an older brother Joe and older sister Ruth. Her father passed away when she was 12 and her brother died Aug. 1, 1993. Patsy began dating Michael Eugene Poteete in the fall of 1983. were married at the Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Tennessee on 5, 1985. The couple moved to Hermitage, Tennessee and in 1989 Patsy and Mike gave birth to their first child Jessica Ryan. Not long after that \ 15 months to be exact \ they had Leah Katelyn. The family of four enjoyed going to the beach and being outdoors. In 1998 Luke Michael was born. The family was growing and God had one more surprise up his sleeve. In 2005, at the age of 40, Patsy gave birth to her youngest son Gabriel Joseph. Despite facing many challenges in her life, including sickness and injury, Patsy always made sure her children got the best that life could offer. Being a mother was her greatest accomplishment in life and she never ceased to fight for her family. Patsy was private but loved the simple things in life, like her animals, gardening, flowers, watching the birds, laying out by the pool, but mostly she loved being a mother and a wife. Patsy went to be with the Lord late night, Jan. 30, 2015, due to complications and swelling from a massive stroke. She will be greatly, deeply, forever loved and missed. Wife My wife Patsy, or Mrs. Doodle Bug as I affectionately called her, was a woman who loved me very much. She was never a person who wanted or needed material things. She loved her kids and wanted the best for them. She loved me unconditionally, she supported me without hesitation in every way, and she made me feel like I could do anything. I was blessed to have a wife with so much unconditional love even through hard times and sickness. God made her just for me and I thank Him for that. I will miss her terribly, but I thank God for the 30 years we got to spend together. Mother Patsy was the best mother any of us could have ever hoped or dreamed of having. She was patient, kind, loving, supportive, creative, gracious, sensitive and understanding. Mom was always a constant and Biblical example of love to us as we were growing up. She showed us the meaning of family and how to get along despite our differences. Mom was always so proud of each of us individually and our accomplishments. She kept all of our drawings, report cards, Christmas and Mothers Day cards, letters and different achievements tucked away. With four children, she was a master at breaking up fights and bringing us back together. Mom was always there for us even during sickness and hard times. She was continuously supportive of anything we wanted to try, whether that was ballet, gymnastics, art, playing guitar, learning martial arts, or playing the drums. She would drive us to school every morning when we didn want to ride the bus. She came to school and brought us lunch to show us she was thinking about us even when we weren with her. At church, in the youth group, she was the first to volunteer to go with us on trips even though, at the time, we didn appreciate her being there. Looking back, her presence was always uplifting and comforting. When we got older and went to college or moved away, she would call every day to vent or talk or laugh. She was our connection to home and family. Some of our favorite memories of her are around the holidays enjoying her cooking. She always went all out at Christmas time to make sure we got everything we ever wanted and more, even if she couldn afford it. She loved the looks on our faces when we came upstairs and saw all those wrapped gifts under the tree. She loved our excitement to open gifts we didn think wed get. Mom enjoyed laughing even if no one else thought it was funny. We love to remember her getting tickled at something and laughing so hard that tears would stream down her face out of pure joy and happiness. She taught us not to take things in life too seriously. Mom, we love you so much and we know that you will watch over each of us until the day we see you again. |
