Downtown Chapel. Betsy was born 21, 1954 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late J. Albert Stuhr and Catherine Bryant Stuhr. She graduated from First Baptist High School and Roper Hospital LPN School. She was raised in St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and is a current member of St. Michaels Church. Betsy was a member of the vestry at both churches, a dedicated volunteer for many organizations, an active participant in MUSCs Boot Camp, and an inspiration to many. Betsy is survived by her husband of 39 years, Horry Parker of Charleston, SC; two sons: E. Horry Parker, Jr., Ph.D. of Athens, GA, John H. Parker of Charleston, SC; daughter, E. Dietrich Parker of Charleston, SC; and brother, John A. Stuhr, Jr. (Cam) of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by her sister, Ellen Stuhr Blakeney, and her niece, Catherine Ellen Blakeney. Obituary: Elizabeth Betty Whaley Middleton Briggs Parker died peacefully on morning 12, 2014 at Bishop Gadsden. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Magnolia on , 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following at Bishop Gadsden, Middleton Dining Room. by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Betty was born in Charleston on 12, 1918, the elder daughter of George Abbott Middleton and his wife Elizabeth Robertson Whaley Middleton. She was baptized in St. Michaels Church and graduated from Ashley Hall in 1936. She married William Hebard Briggs II of Rochester, NY in of 1941 and was an airplane spotter with the Ground Observer Corps when she was awarded her wings\ in summer of 1942. She was a war widow in 1943 and married Francis LeJau Parker II in of 1946. She returned to college later in life and earned her college degree in 1978 from the of Charleston. Betty took many roles in her community including serving as President of Ashley Hall Alumnae Association, on the SC Board of Managers and as Library Chairman for the National Society of Colonial Dames, as recording Secretary of the Charleston Citizens for Clean Air, and on the Coastal Environmental Coalition representing the Preservation Society, and later on the Charleston Dorchester Mental Board. She served as docent in the Preservation Society, Historic Charleston Foundation, and was a tour guide at the Aiken-Rhett House. Betty enjoyed writing throughout her life. She was once on staff at the Charleston Evening Post and she published her mothers memoirs called My s in 1998. She is survived by her three children William Hebard Briggs III of Jupiter, FL, Elizabeth Parker Dixon and Frances Parker Magee both of Charleston; her five grandchildren, Lawrence Joseph Dixon, Jr., Francis LeJau Parker Dixon, John Alexander Magee, Jr., Elizabeth Middleton Magee and Charlotte Parker Magee; her brother, George Abbott Middleton, Jr. of Charleston; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Lois Middleton Stoney. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Arcadia Close and Read Cloister at Bishop Gadsden for their care and kindness. Obituary: Donald McGee Parker Donald Parker, 76, of Fort Mill, SC died on , 11, 2011 at a Rock Hill Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Parkers cherished memory will forever live in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends that knew and loved him. He was born in Moundsville, WV on 13, 1934 to Roy and Genevieve Hostutler Sullivan. During the Korean War he served in United States Navy. In 1957 he married Mary Witt whom he has spent the last 53 years with. Don was a successful carpenter for years renovating many homes and later was the owner of a successful lawn service "TruGreen" in Charleston, SC where he prided himself on customer service with all of his accounts. Other interests include boating, fishing and playing cards with the family he loved so well. In 2004 he retired and later moved to Fort Mill, SC in 2007. Survivors include his wife Mary Parker of Fort Mill, SC; 1 son Matt Parker of Summerville, SC; 2 daughters Jennifer Parisio, Kathryn Stephens and her husband Michael all of Fort Mill, SC; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and 1 brother Sidney Parker of Spring Hill, FL. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by a son, Donald McGee Parker Jr. in 1958; 1 sister Patti Congreve in 2000 and a brother John Parker in 2003. A Mass will be at 1:00 pm, , 14, 2011 at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Rd., Fort Mill, SC 29715.
