Obituary: Lorene Osborne Phillips of Springmoor Retirement Community died peacefully at her home in Raleigh on 30, 2016. She was born 29, 1927 at Grassy Creek, Ashe , North Carolina, the youngest child of Edgar M. and Verda Young Osborne. She graduated from High Point Central High School in 1944 and attended Meredith in Raleigh, NC. Lorene is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Mark (Billy) Phillips, brothers, Swint and Doughton Osborne, and sisters, Jeane Hendrickson, Virginia Vannoy. She is survived by daughter Deborah Riley and husband, Dain of Raleigh; son Michael Phillips and wife Jennifer of West Chester, PA; daughter Meneta Deaton and husband Mark of Staunton, VA., sister, Claryce Norman of Greensboro, NC. Grandchildren Chad Riley, Christy Winoski and husband, Trey, Charles Deaton, and Alex Deaton. Also nieces Carole Willmot and husband, Micheal, Katrina Miller and husband, Calvin. And several great nieces and great nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews. Lorene worked with Employment Security Commission when she met & married husband, Billy in 1946. She also worked with several attorneys in Greenville, NC, prior to joining USDA, Farmers Administration in the early 70s. While with FmHA she worked in the Greenville Office and the Raleigh State Office. During her tenure with FmHA, she traveled North Carolina extensively. She knew by name each employee in all 100 county offices and she formed friendships that are still active. She retired in 1994. She was a former member of The Womans Club of Raleigh and former Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Grifton, NC. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Grifton, NC and St. Pauls Christian Church, Raleigh, NC. Lorene was known in her family life and professional life as a fixer of problems. She was very community oriented and after she retired she actively volunteered with Raleigh Community Hospital, Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, NC Red Cross, Special Olympics, and others. Lorene will be missed by family and friends; but today heaven is a brighter place because of her presence. There will be a memorial service conducted by Springmoor Chaplin, Rev. Phyllis Mayo and St Pauls Christian Church Minister, Rev. Phil Jones in the Springmoor Auditorium 7 at 2:00 PM. Obituary: Linda Mae Sheppard Phillips, age 74, passed away on 20, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on May 3, 1943 in Stokes to Paul and Clara Sheppard. She attended Westfield High School where she was All in basketball. Linda attended Guilford and received her BA in Education and Sociology. She also received her Masters of Education from the University of South Carolina. Linda was known for her generous heart of giving to others with cards, gifts, and telephone calls. She loved to shop, whether it be for herself, her friends, or family. Linda loved her cats and spending time with her family at their mountain house at BelAir Springs, where they met many cherished friends. She was also treasurer of the Owners Association there. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gay. She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Owen Phillips; son, Chad Phillips; three brothers, Kerry (Carol) Sheppard, Mitch (Kathy) Sheppard, and Craig (Janet) Sheppard; and many other loved ones and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice for all the wonderful staff and caregivers. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on , 25th from 3-5 pm at Frank Vogler & Sons , 2951 Reynolda Rd. Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Linda Phillips Memorial Fund at BelAir Springs Owners Association, C/O Brad Davis, 19927 River Falls Dr, Davidson, NC 28036. The donations will be used to help others in the community she loved. |

Obituary: Mrs. Linda Sue Miles Phillips, 59, a resident of Lexington, passed away , 24, 2014 at her home. Linda was born on 16, 1954 in New Bedford, MA to the late William D. Miles and Frances Hartley Spano. Linda had a very strong faith and love for God. She was a devoted and faithful member of Wayside Tabernacle Freewill Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed going to the beach and taking family trips. She cherished her family dearly and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Surviving is her husband, Danny Phillips of the home; daughters, Kim Edwards and her husband Anthony of Denton, Terra Boles and her husband Steve of Lexington, and Kelly McHone and her husband Wayne of Thomasville; step-daughters, Kimberly Yarbrough of Trinity and Angel Phillips of Walnut Cover; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Alley, Peyton, Jonathan, Dawson, Noah, Harper, Evan, Jayden, and Sierra; sister, Sharon Owens and her husband George of High Point; brothers Brad and Kenneth Miles of Burlington; and her step mother, Lula Miles. Also surviving are nieces, Shannon, Krista, Kerri, Connie, and Ashleigh; nephews, Juan, Chad, Brian, James, and Anthony; great nieces, Callie, Summer, Elizabeth, KayCee, and Lissa; great nephews, Daylan, Seth, Cameron, and Ashton; as well as several cousins. A celebration of Lindas life will be held at 2 pm in the chapel of Thomasville , 18 Randolph Street, with Rev. Jimmy Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
