Obituary: Frank Joseph Petrone, 88, passed away peacefully on . 11, 2014. He was born 20, 1926 in Hempstead, NY to the late Ernest Paul Petrone and Minnie Baldwin Petrone. Frank J. Petrone will forever be instilled in the hearts of his family, friends and anyone that knew him. He was the rock, staple and the backbone of the Petrone family for 88 years. He was a family man and taught us what sticking together was all about. dinners, holidays, birthdays, etc. will never be the same. We cherish the many memories that we had with him and will always hold them close to our hearts. We will celebrate his life as it meant so much to us. Frank J. Petrone was a WWII Veteran and served in the 10th Mountain Division, 85th Regiment, I . He was the true definition of a patriot and an American. He was shot in of 1945 on Hill 913, north of Mt. Della Spe in Italy, the same hill Congressman Bob Dole had been shot. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze star for his duties. From a story on Dole visiting, Hill 913 in Italy back in 1994,You don have to be in Congress, Dole said, If you were a member of the 10th Mountain Division, you get the red carpet treatment. Frank J. Petrone was a long-time New York Mets and New York Giants fan. The Mets won on 10th. He watched the game from his tablet the night before he passed. We like to think the Mets won for Frank. He also loved John Wayne and listening to Frank Sinatra. He is survived by his wife: Regetta Zaino Petrone; sons: Frank J. Petrone, Jr. (Mary) of N. Patchogue, NY, Robert A. Petrone of Raleigh, and Leonard C. Petrone of Mastic, NY; daughter: Diane P. Sheehan (Vincent) of Knightdale; grandchildren: George J. Slater, Frank Petrone, Christine Morning, Jaime A. Craft, Vincent J. Sheehan, Jr., Robert Petrone, Evan Petrone, Stephanie Petrone, and Leonard Petrone; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Carl and David Petrone, both of Mastic, NY; sisters: Lucille and Patricia Petrone, Dolores Lapinski, and Helen Severs, all of Brookhaven, NY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Ernest and James Petrone; and sister: Rose McCaffrey. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 to 6:45 pm, , 15, 2014 at L. Harold Poole Service, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 pm with military honors. A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 pm, , 16, 2014 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 2817 Poole Road, Raleigh, NC 27610. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm , 3, 2014 at St. Charles Catholic , 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735. The Petrone family would like to extend special thanks for the care given by Duke Raleigh-PCU-2nd Floor nurses, doctors, and staff. We love you so much and with all of our hearts!! Obituary: Paul D. Petris, age 91, of Charlotte, passed away on 23, 2017 at the NC State Veterans in Salisbury, NC. Paul graduated from Savannah High School in 1943, received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and he served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII. Paul retired from Certain-Teed Saint Gobain Corp after 45 years, served as a deacon in First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, led many young men as Scout Troop Leader at Third Presbyterian Church in Charlotte where he lead his oldest son, Jeff Petris to earn his Eagle Scout Award in 1969. Paul is survived by his daughter, Catherine Anne Petris-Clements and her two children, Catherine Petris Clements; William Charles Clements; and Janet James Petriss three sons, Mark, William and David Lindsey. Paul was a loving husband of Patricia Anne Petris for the last twenty years of her life. He was also the loving husband of Janet James Petris for the last 27 years of her life. He is also preceded in death by his sons, Jeffery Paul Petris, James Steven Petris and Charles Eugene Petris. A service to celebrate Paul's life will be 1:00pm , May 20, 2017 at McEwen of Monroe with interment to follow in Evergreen .
