Obituary: Charlotte (Cornwell) Pockl, 88, of Milford, died 4, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua following a short illness. She was born in Greenwich, CT to Charles and Elizabeth (Greer) Cornwell. She attended local schools and graduated from Greenwich High School. She resided in the Brookline area for over 35 years. Charlotte owned and operated the Brookline Variety Store for over 10 years. She worked many years as a director of food service for education and institutional services. She was Girl Scout leader for over 25 years and also belonged to Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Pockl in 1974. Members of her family include two daughters, Virginia Holland of Nashua and Nancy Havey of Manchester; one son, William Pockl of Merrimack, NH; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Obituary: Sr. Valentine Dumont, PM (Sr. Raymond-Marie), 100, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Manchester, NH died 30, 2006. She was born in Gardner, MA on 2, 1906 and was the daughter of Joseph and Yvonne (Legault) Dumont. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1925, made her first profession in 1927 and her final profession in 1932. She earned a bachelors degree from Rivier and later studied at St. Benoit-du-Lac in Magog, Quebec. Sr. Dumont taught piano, music and directed church and school choirs in Quebec, Canada at Stanhope and Montreal; in New Hampshire at St. Marie in Manchester and Berlin and in Rhode Island at Marieville and Woonsocket. She was assigned to Rivier in Nashua, NH for many years. While there she worked in the business office and was Director of Food Service at the Dion . She was also moderator of the college guild and was an active member of the Elder Hostel Group. In addition, she contributed many artistic pieces of needlework to the college including a rug-hooked banner of the seal of the college, which hangs in the main entrance of Madeleine Hall. Obituary: Sister St. Adrienne, pm (Sr. Germaine Beauregard) 101, of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary died at St. Joseph Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd. in Manchester on May 3, 2014. Born in Holyoke, MA on 11, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Clara (Cadieux) Beauregard. She entered the Order of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary in 1933 in St. Hyacinthe, P.Q. Canada. She made her first profession of vows in 1935, and final profession in 1940. Sister St. Adrienne taught elementary schools in Rhode Island. In 1942, she went to Rivier in Nashua, NH and was affiliated with the institution for over 59 years. She became the business administrator of the college and served as Treasurer until her resignation in 1985. During her tenure as the chief financial officer of the college she was the bursar, the controller, the payroll specialist, the financial aid officer, the investor and the supervisor of buildings and grounds. Between 1942 and 1985, she financed the construction of the chapel, the library, the biology and chemistry labs, 2 student dormitories, the college center, the administration building, a classroom building, a central heating plant/maintenance shop, and a health and fitness center. The college moved from a 3 building campus in 1942 to a 30 building institution with the purchase of houses abutting the college property. In 1985, she received the Rivier Alumni highest honor, the Sr. Madeleine of the Jesus Award, given for outstanding achievement and service to the . The Board of Trustees named the administration building Adrienne Hall in her honor in 1993. The plaque at Adrienne Hall reads as follows: Her brilliance in the field of finance was matched only by her enduring commitment to the mission and the people of Rivier . She inspired us all. Sister St. Adrienne was a member of the Corporation and of the Board of Trustees of Rivier from 1948 to 1985. Following her resignation as Treasurer in 1985, she served as Special Assistant to the President. The daughter of Rene and Henriette (Helie) Bernier, Sr. Doris was born in Manchester on 12, 1930. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, NH on 25, 1948, pronounced her First vows on 2, 1951 and Final Vows on 15, 1956. Sister Doris received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Rivier in Nashua, NH. She continued her studies in Religious Education at both St. Joseph s in Maine and Connecticut and received her Certification in Christian Ministry from the Ministry Institute of Notre Dame in Manchester. Sister Doris was a woman of exceptional competence in music and as an educator. Sister spent 32 years in ministry, teaching both Music and Junior High classes in Rhode Island and in New Hampshire. Following the closing of schools in 1983, Sr. Doris ministered as a Coordinator of the Religious Education Program and as Pastoral Associate at St. Maries Parish in Manchester. A position which she fulfilled for 26 years with compassion and a sense of shared joy, a service to the shut-ins of the parish. Sr. Doris was predeceased by her parents and siblings. Family members include nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on , 26, 2012 in St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Avenue, Manchester. She was born in Manchester on 6, 1913 to Eugene and Rose (Brien) Ducharme. She entered the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson in 1942, made her first profession in 1944 and her final profession in 1949. She earned a bachelors degree in 1956 and a masters degree in 1961 both in French from Rivier in Nashua. She earned a doctorate in French from Laval University in Quebec in 1977. Sr. Ducharme taught at elementary and secondary schools in New Hampshire and Rhode Island. She joined the faculty at Rivier in 1962 and served as an instructor and professor. She also served as chairman of the French and Spanish departments and in retirement, as a consultant at the Regina Library. In addition, she was editor of La Voix Francaise de Rivier and moderator of the Cercle Francais. She was a member and served on committees of various French professional organizations at both the regional and national level. In 1985 she was presented the Palmes Academiques in recognition of her dedication to French culture.
