Obituary: Leonard Paul Plante of 80 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH passed away on 31, 2010 at the Concord Hospice House following a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 72. Leonard was born Oct. 5, 1938 in Manchester to Gabrielle (Viviers) Plante and Robert Eugene Plante Sr. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1956 and married Monique Blais in 1959. Together, they had three children. During his working years, Leonard owned and operated two canteen trucks, spent several years at Prevue Products Inc., which manufactured boots, and ended at Frito Lay, where he worked from 1990 to 2006. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling and was an avid Fantasy Baseball and Fantasy Football player. He was a devout Catholic and a long-time supporter of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging. He is survived by his daughter Janice Plante and son-in-law Dr. Rodman Rocket Getchell, son Dr. Daniel Plante and daughter-in-law Dr. Ranjini Thaver, and son Steve Plante and daughter-in-law Brenda Plante, as well as four grandchildren, Anicka Plante, Devon Plante, Vishnu Thaver, and Amanda Plante. Three siblings also survive him: Robert Plante Jr. (and Madeline); Charles Plante (and Nancy); and Jeannine Bruneau. A committal service was held on , 4, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Leonard Plante to the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging at P.O. Obituary: Sr. Jeannette Plante, CSC, 76, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, Manchester, NH died 26, 2002 at Elliot Hospital, Manchester from injuries received in an auto-pedestrian accident. Born in North Adams, MA on 4, 1925, she was the daughter of Joseph and Exilia (Boisjolie) Plante. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1944 and pronounced her final vows in 1951. Sr. Jeannette earned a bachelors degree from Notre Dame , Manchester, NH. She then taught at parochial elementary and secondary schools from 1946 to 1967 in Adams, MA and in New Hampshire at Newmarket, Manchester and Nashua. She earned a masters degree in Classics from Duquesne University in 1968. Since that time she has taught at Notre Dame as an associate professor of Latin, Mythology and History. She has also been supervisor of secondary social studies student teachers. Besides her service on college committees, she was actively involved in classical associations. She was awarded the Barlow-Beach Bowl, the highest award bestowed by the Classical Association of New England for the promotion of classics in art, literature and music. She worked closely with the National Junior-Senior Classical Leagues throughout the country and had been a member of its board since 1960. In 1990, she was given a special recognition book award by the American Classical League, and was presented with the Sears Roebuck Foundation Award for teaching excellence and campus leadership. Sr. Jeannette served three years as spiritual animator of the Holy Cross , Manchester, NH The family includes three brothers, George Plante, Eugene Plante and Paul Plante; two sisters, Cecile Sears and Laura Gelinas; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Obituary: Gregory J. Plante, 88, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at his home on 29, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born in Courcelle, Quebec, Canada on 3, 1927 the son of Jean and Laura (Pouliot) Plante. relocating to New Hampshire, Greg was employed as an auto body technician and as carpenter and craftsman. He loved spending time with his family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed camping, vacationing in Canada and spending winters in Florida with his loving wife. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Members of his family include his wife of 66 years Mary Rose Plante of Fremont, his son Denis Plante and his wife Julie also of Fremont, his daughter Ellen Petralito and her husband John of Manchester, his four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Obituary: Eugene R. Gene Plant, 73, of Manchester, died 27, 2015 at the Catholic Medical after a short illness. He was born in Barre, VT, on 2, 1941, the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Avery) Plant. He grew up in Barre and was educated in the local school system. As a teenager he moved with his family to Somerville, MA. Gene was a proud veteran of the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed in the U.S. and France. He was an excellent businessman and was the owner/operator of several businesses including the Second St. Mobil Station which he co-owned with his brother Donald. He loved restoring vintage automobiles and landscaping his yard. He also enjoyed traveling and the time he spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Members of his family include his wife of 48 years Dianne (Danault) Plant of Manchester, his two sons Michael Plant and his wife Christine of Weare and Jeffrey Plant and his wife Michelle of Manchester, his grandchildren Oliver Plant of Weare and Brianna Plant and Joshua Plant both of Manchester, his four brothers Paul Plant and his wife Judy of Milford, Donald Plant and his wife Janet of Bedford, Earl Plant and his wife Lorraine and David Plant and his wife Donna all of Nottingham, his three sisters Joyce Lavalette and her husband Gerry of Florida, Anna Jutras of Milford and Shirley McQuade of Newmarket and his two step-sisters Lorraine Sanderson and Leona McGaskill as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Amedisys & Hospice and the Catholic Medical for their loving care and support. She worked for many area public and private nursing home facilities, most recently she was a Licensed Practical Nurse for & Rehabilitation Services ( HCRS ) of Vermont, in Springfield, VT. She had also previously worked for the City of Keene as a Parking Control Officer. She married Lawrence V. Switzer, Jr. in of 2004. She was previously married to Douglas C. Plankey, for 23 years, until his death in 2001. She had been very active in local Scouting, with both her boys. She was also involved in the Local Rebekahs She enjoyed the warmth and sunny days of spring, summer and fall; any day that allowed her to go out riding on her motorcycle was a good day. Mostly she loved her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were all very special to her. She is survived by her husband of 10 years: Lawrence V. Switzer, Jr. of Walpole; her children: Jon Plankey of Keene; Aaron Plankey and his fiancée, Ashley Haygood of Keene and Kara Greene and her husband Chris of Springfield, VT.; eight grandchildren: Dustin Plankey, Christopher Plankey, Thomas Plankey, Ella Plankey, Connor Silver, Whitney Greene, Catrina Greene and Cooper Greene; her brother: Bernard D. Whitney, Jr and his wife Dianne of Keene; a sister: Bette Jean Whitney of Keene as well as many nieces nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband: Douglas C. Plankey. Calling Hours will be held on , 21, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 at the Fletcher . A Graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the summer, in the Monadnock View in Keene. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Mary Lou Plankey-Switzers name, to an area youth organization of your choosing.
