Obituary: Bertine Lynnette Paynter went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 30, 2014 at her home in Missoula, MT. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm - 7 pm, , Oct. 8th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. services will be held at 10 am, , Oct. 9th at the United Methodist Church, Payette. Burial will follow at Riverside , Payette. Condolences may be made to Bertines family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Bertine was born 18, 1933 in Twin Falls, ID to Lambert Lucius and Marian (Smith) Langdon. Bertine progressed with honors through the local school system graduating from Twin Falls High School in 1951. Bertine studied at University of California in Los Angeles for one year before returning to the Twin Falls area to gain employment. It was in Twin Falls where she met the love of her life Kent Paynter in 1956. Kent and Bertine were married at the First Baptist Church in Twin Falls on 28, 1957. Kent and Bertine purchased a farm in New Plymouth, ID (Kentina Ayrshires) where they raised their family and a nationally recognized herd of registered Ayrshire cattle. Tragically, a truck-train accident claimed Kents life in 1975 and Bertine was left with the responsibility of caring for their four young children. All four of Kent and Bertines children graduated in the top of their class from New Plymouth High School and went on to professional careers. Bertine remained a farm owner for 48 years before moving into the town of New Plymouth in 2006. She spent the last few years of her life living in Missoula, MT enjoying her five granddaughters. Our mother dedicated her lifetime to the service of mankind. The depth of that devotion is first illustrated by her success as a parent, grandparent and then by her lifetime accomplishments as a dedicated public servant-in her church, the schools, the community-also at local, state and national levels. Bertine was well known as an avid bowler. She was very active in the Idaho State bowling community representing Idaho in 1956 in The National Bowling tournament in Chicago, IL. She collected many local and state bowling championships as well as being the first female member of the Idaho Bowling Hall of Fame. Bertine also served many years as a local officer for the Gay Way Bowling Association and as the president of the Idaho State Womens Bowling Association. Bertine served in many leadership positions in the United Methodist Church in Payette, ID as well as the New Plymouth School system. Bertine was first elected to the New Plymouth School board in 1976 and worked diligently for years as school board chairman. She was also an officer in the Idaho State School Board Association and the National School Board Association. Bertine served as office manager and secretary-manager of the Payette Fair for close to 30 years and was currently retired. Bertines proudest moment came when she was named 2009 Idaho Mother of the Year. She treasured this honor and competed for National Mother of the year in Portland, Oregon. Bertine also enjoyed all sports especially New Plymouth HS basketball! She was an avid New York Mets and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. Bertines love of contract bridge found her playing cards several times a week for decades until her recent passing. I should say we were all amazed at her recent win at a professional bridge tournament in Missoula but we were not surprised. Our amazing mother could accomplish anything she put her mind to and everyone loved her mind! Bertine is survived by her four loving children and their families, Lisa (Ron) Worthington of Nampa, ID; Jeff (Becky) Paynter and Kylie and Micaela of Idaho Falls, ID; Marian (Matt) Maxwell and Avery and Eden of Missoula, MT; Chuck (Christine) Paynter and Ashley of Missoula, MT. She is also survived by her two sisters and one brother, Lucille (John) Townley, Lorraine (Jim) Hiskey, and Danny (Kathleen) Langdon; as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Bertine was preceded in death by the love of her life husband Kent, parents Lambert and Marian Langdon, in-laws Ed and Fleta Paynter as well as many family members including brothers and sisters. We love you mom! You are the best mother, sister, wife and grandmother anyone could have! We will miss you but are reassured by knowing you are now in heaven with Dad and Our Lord Savior.
