Obituary: On , 13, 2015, Tonya Chereen Davis Peters, wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away of natural causes at her Kansas City home at the age of 48. She was born May 29, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri to LaVonne Casbolt Horton Davis. During Tonya’s childhood, the family followed the military service of her stepfather to different bases around the country and in Europe, before settling in California. Tonya attended school in Riverside, CA, and graduated from Ramona High School in 1984. She soon moved back to the Kansas City area, where she met Ron Peters through a mutual friend, her cousin, Rick Bellew. Tonya and Ron dated for several years, and were married on 21, 1989. lived in Independence most of their married life, and had recently moved to Kansas City. One son was born to them, JohnPaul, in 1992. Tonya shared Ron’s appreciation of the outdoors and the two enjoyed many float trips and camping in those early years. Later, when Ron’s parents acquired a campground near Truman Lake, much time was spent there, as well. Most of Tonya’s work life was in customer service and restaurant positions. In recent years, she worked toward and received her Associate’s degree from Vatterott and was pursuing employment as a medical assistant at the time of her death. Tonya had several passions outside of her family. were The Kansas City Chiefs, Elvis, and collecting anything related to pigs. the 2014 baseball season, she also proudly wore Kansas City Royals gear. Tonya was always quick to laugh and greatly enjoyed family events and playing games around the table. She was ever faithful in sending birthday greetings, and was the first one to call family members to make and settle plans for an upcoming holiday. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ron Peters, their son JohnPaul, her mother LaVonne Davis, her grandmother, Velma “Queenie” Horton, her sister Veronica “Trinket” Goldsmith, and one brother-in-law, y (and Joyce) Peters, all of Kansas City. She also leaves to survive one niece, Isabella Goldsmith, and three nephews, DJ Goldsmith, Jason (and Megan) Peters, and Brandon (and Abby) Peters, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brother Nicholas, and her step-fathers, Paul Davis and Wayne Horton. A private memorial will be held. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. |

Obituary: RITA M. PETERS Rita M. Peters, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away , 23, in Kansas City, MO. Rita was born May 25, 1933 to E. Bernier and Elodie (nee Guilbert) L’Arrivee in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada. She was married in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John H. Peters in 1954. were partners in business as well as in life, most recently as owners of Shady Oaks RV Park near Warsaw, MO. In the years prior, she and John owned or operated restaurants in Missouri, South Carolina, and California, as well as a building specialty business in Alberta, Canada. Outgoing and energetic, Rita never knew a stranger, and this trait served her well in these operations, as well as her own employment in real estate, banking, and other customer service positions. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2012, her parents, two brothers, Jean Rene and Maurice L'Arrivee, and two sisters, Marie Kehler and Gail Hiebert. Rita is survived by two sisters, Lucille Caudill of Washington, and Therese Gobeil of British Columbia, two brothers, Gabriel L’Arrivee of Manitoba and Jon L'Arrivee of Washington; two sons and their spouses, Ron and Tonya Peters, and y and Joyce Peters, of Kansas City; three grandsons, Jason Peters and his wife, Megan, of Durham, NC, Brandon Peters and his wife Abby, of Portland, OR, and JohnPaul Peters of Kansas City. She also leaves behind many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates. Visitation will be 2 to 2:30 p.m. , 15, at D.W.
