Obituary: Wilma C. Pepmiller passed away on 7th, 2015 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl G. Pepmiller and is survived by three children, Karen Boelter, Phil Pepmiller and Craig Pepmiller and six grandchildren. Wilma was born on 25, 1922 in Doniphan, MO. She and Earl wed in 1944 in Oxford, NC. Wilma grew up on a small farm in rural Missouri during the depression with her seven brothers and sisters. During the summers she and her siblings would travel to Arkansas to earn their spending money picking cotton. The rest of the year they worked on the farm and attended a one room school house. She left the farm as a teenager to live in town and got a job working at the local soda fountain where she first met Earl. their wedding, Wilma lived and worked in St. Louis while Earl was deployed. She held jobs in a sewing factory and wholesale shop before going to school for her beauty license. Wilma was an avid traveler. She visited all fifty states and was fond of adding that she was in Alaska while it was still a territory and again after it gained statehood. She visited all but three of the Hawaiian Islands, 13 National Parks and all but two of the Canadian provinces. She traveled to 19 countries on three different continents, drove the Alcan Highway, sang in the Sydney Opera House, had lunches at the Missouri Capital and the United Nations, walked in the Dead Sea, held lava in her hand and crossed Niagara Falls twice. Wilma was an avid reader, a Christian, an active member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia, a frequent volunteer at The Wardrobe and a member of the Missouri Folklore Society. She enjoyed folk music and almost always had a cassette or CD playing that she would hum along to. Wilma was an accomplished seamstress, each of her granddaughters still have the Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls that she sewed for them. She made hundreds of candles and at least that many jars of pickles (and taught both skills) and her recipe for Thanksgiving Turkey was written up in the local Columbia newspaper. Wilma’s stories, wit and lifetime of wisdom will be missed by those that knew her. Her family takes solace in the knowledge that she led a grand full life. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, , 11, 2015 at Memorial . Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1:00-2:00, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Memorial Park . In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church. |

Obituary: Herbert L. Peper, 78, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Paris, MO, passed away at Boone Hospital on , 2, 2016. Visitation will be held on , 5, 2016 from 6-8 pm and on , 6, 2016 from 9-11 am at Memorial . services will be on , 6, 2016 at 2 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park . Herbert was born on 28, 1937, six miles from Winigan, six miles from New Boston, and six miles from Shelby, or as he always said, from “nowhere!”, the only son of Herbert and Theresa Peper, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Linneus High School. He married Janet K. Walker on 14, 1959. To this union, three children were born, Sandra, Randall and Mark. He worked as a propane gas plant manager, drove charter buses on weekends, and most recently was a shuttle driver for the Terrace Retirement Community. He is survived by his wife, Janet of 57 years, daughter, Sandra, and her significant other, Tony and her son, Tim; son, Randy and his wife, Cathy and their children, Amanda and Corey; and son Mark. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Nathaniel Lee Smith, one half-sister and five half-brothers.
