Obituary: Maurice C. Parrack, 91, passed away on 26th, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. , 31st at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO. 64114. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m., prior to the Mass with the Rosary being prayed at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow in Mt Olivet . In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A Reed Road, Raytown, MO 64138. Maurice was born 18, 1922 in Preston, Missouri to Charley Jackson and Jessie Edith (Russell) Parrack. He grew up in Macks Creek, MO, later moving to Kansas City. On D-Day he started work at Lowe and Campbell Sporting Goods Co. where he met and later married Norma Geraldine Joray, on 6, 1946. raised three children and shared 67 years together. His many talents were reflected in the variety of his occupations during his life. Manager of multiple housing projects for the Housing Authority of Kansas City, property manager and business manager for Brookside Reality, property manager for St. Elizabeths Parish, and owner of Maurys Repair Unlimited in his etirement years. In their earlier years, he worked as a watchmaker after attending the Kansas City School of Watchmaking, where he also taught. Maurice loved the Boy Scouts; serving as Scoutmaster for many years and then Troop Committee Chairman. He served as a member of the Diocese Catholic Scouting committee, a leader in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say at Osceola Scout Camp, and was honored with the St. George Award for his dedication to scouting. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeths parish. He believed in service to his Church and donated thousands of hours helping count the donations on morning for over 20 years. He was a handyman for the nuns in the Convent, handyman for the Church Mardi Gras and Ice Cream Social and any other activity where ingenuity of projects were needed. He loved spending time with Norma and his family at their lake home. Maurice also loved wood working, especially making gifts for his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl and John. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Norma Parrack, three children and their spouses; David (Kristina) Parrack, Diane (Peter) Menzies and Linda (Michael) Smith; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 20 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way. |
