Obituary: Shane Lawayne Parks, 52, passed away , 24, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical in Tupelo. He was born 1, 1965, to Carroll W. and Betty Sharp Parks. He was a member of Thrasher Baptist Church. He taught Metal Trades at the Prentiss Vo-Tech for 20 years before retiring. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and being with friends and family. A celebration of life service will be 2:00 P.M. , 27, 2017, at Thrasher Baptist Church with Bro. Doug Rakestraw, Bro. Dewitt Bain and Bro. Kevin Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of McMillan . He is survived by one son, Justin (Amber) Parks of Corinth; his parents, Carroll and Betty Parks; two sisters, Dana (Tony) Christian of Booneville and Jenny (Robbie) Woodard of Rienzi; one grandson, Hunter Parks of Corinth; one niece, Shalee Christian; two nephews, Logann Christian and Ryan Woodard; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Rickey Shane Parks; and his grandparents, Bro. W.E. and Liddie Sharp and Glasford Parks and LaFoy Parks. Pallbearers are Logann Christian, Tony Christian, Robbie Woodard, Benny Sharp, Stephen Dickerson and Robert Botts. Visitation will from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the church. Obituary: James Franklin Parks Sr, age 93 of Clinton, Mississippi, died peacefully in his sleep . James was born to Frank and Daisy Parks on 3, 1920. James had two brothers, Bill and T.L. and a sister, Marietta. James met the love of his life, Lorene, in of 1939 at a church revival in Winston . married later that year in . James and Lorene had three children who were the pride and joy of his life. During his long life, James served with distinguished service in both World War II and the Korean War. He eventually retired from the Army as a Major. He attended both Hinds Community and Mississippi where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He worked as a bookkeeper for Chris Haynes Electric for more than twenty years until he retired so that he could enjoy his other great love in life - golf. James attended Parkway Baptist Church and enjoyed weekly fellowship with his School class. His brothers and sister and his son-in-law, Roger Hamilton, whom he loved like his own son, preceded James in death. James is survived in death by his loving wife, Lorene, his son; Jim Parks and wife Betty, and his daughters; Judy Hamilton and Debbie Cummins and her husband Rodney. James is also survived by his four grandchildren; Kathy Storm and husband Eric, Bill Parks and wife Sandra, Nathan Cummins and fiancé Kelli Trest, and Stephanie Palmertree and husband Ryan; and his loving great grandchildren Travis Parks, Sydney Storm, Sam Storm, Haley Parks and Xander Palmertree. Services will be held at 1:30 pm at Lakewood Memorial in Clinton, Mississippi on , 14th with visitation immediately preceding at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in James’ honor. |
