Obituary: Dorothy Fox Morrow DeRisi Palmer, 92, passed away on , 8, 2016 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. She was born on 15, 1923 to the late Henry Theodore and Nannie Lee Gilliam Fox in Crichton, AL. Visitation will be held at Lakewood on , 12, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 PM and again on from 1:00-2:00 PM. services will be held in the funeral home chapel on at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Coy United Methodist Church in Preston, MS. Dorothy grew up in Columbus, MS, played clarinet in the band and was active in her church. She was Miss Mississippi in 1942, and was elected Miss Congeniality in the Miss America contest. Marriage to Chuck Morrow and children soon followed and after 22 years they divorced. A few years later she met and married George DeRisi of Bronx , NY. There she worked for Bell System phone companies. She continued working for Continental Phone after they moved to Heathsville, VA, where they lived until his death in 1989 when she moved back home to Mississippi. There she met and married Tom Palmer and they lived in Clinton until his death in 2003. Dorothy lived with her daughter Madelyn in Clinton for several years until her health necessitated a final move to Compere in Jackson. Dorothy was known for her happy, gentle disposition and beautiful smile which she shared often. She was talented and loved music, poetry, gardening and flowers. She was a founding member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church in Jackson where she was the pianist. She enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, sewing and reading. Her greatest joy was her children and grand children. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands George DeRisi and Thomas Palmer; daughter, Nancy Morrow Farmer; grandson, David Farmer; brothers, Carl Weaver and H.T. Fox, Jr.; and sisters, Martha Fox Rowell, Clara Fox Wilder, and Primrose Fox Conner. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Violet Fox Remski; daughters, Madelyn Morrow Matijevich and Shannon Morrow (Emmett) Shumate; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Obituary: Dorothy Johnson Palmer, 85, died , 5, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born 21, 1925 in Rienzi to the late Wesley and Maudie Morgan Johnson. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. services will be 2:00 p.m. , 7, 2010, at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Cecil Woodruff officiating assisted by Elder Steve Leggett. Burial will be in the Sardis . McMillan is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Cary) Rinehart of Rienzi; two grandchildren, Tracy (Richard) Smith and Blake ( ) Rinehart; five great-grandchildren, Josh Wheeler, Erin Wheeler, Kaitlin Rinehart, Madelyn Smith and Seth Floyd. Obituary: CLEMENTINE BROWN PALMER, 73, affectionately known as Tine, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and adored friend to so many died at St. Catherines Village on , 1, 2010. She was born on 30, 1936, the oldest of three daughters to Clementine and Henry Brown of Jackson, MS. She was a loving and devoted wife to Ambassador John N. Palmer, Sr. She is survived by three children, son James B. Palmer of Jackson, daughter Susan Palmer Amaro of Washington, DC, daughter Patricia Palmer McClure and husband, Justin, of Jackson, and daughter-in-law Stacy Reynolds Palmer of Jackson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert and Charlotte Palmer; Jimmy, Matthew and Kaitlyn Palmer; Alex, David and Sofia Amaro; and Jay Justin, Claire, and Molly McClure. She leaves two sisters, Betti Brown Watters and Suzan Brown Thames, both of Jackson and many dear nieces and nephews. Tine was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest son, John N. Palmer, Jr. Tine attended Central High School and the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was a founding member of Northminster Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. She was also a member of the Jackson Symphony League, MMA Auxiliary, Gallery Guild, Recess Luncheon Club, Debutante Mothers Club, Chi Omega Alumni, The 75 Club, and various bridge clubs. Tines generous nature was often reflected by her opening her home for various charities. She also enjoyed tutoring math and reading at Spann Elementary School. Her warm spirit, gracious hospitality touched the lives of many., Her courage and strength especially during her long battle with Alzheimers are a tribute to her and a great part of her legacy. The family would like to especially thank Dr. George Patton, Deborah Day, and all of the nurses that cared for Tine with warmth and compassion during her illness. The family will receive friends in the courtyard at Northminster Baptist Church, 3955 Ridgewood Road in Jackson, MS from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on , 2 and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on , 3. Obituary: Cecil Eugene Palmer, 81, died May 7, 2011, at his home in Madison, MS. He was born in Columbia, MS, the second son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Carl (Mildred) Palmer. He graduated from Hattiesburg High. serving in the Air Force, he returned to MS and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. The majority of his career was spent with Michael Baker, Jr. Inc. as a project engineer and Vice President. Throughout his career, he and his family have lived in New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas, Alaska, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. retiring from Michael Baker, he worked for the City of Madison until his retirement in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ann (Robertson) formerly of Booneville; daughters: Cindy Heffner, Dawn (Randall) DeArmond; sons Chris (Bridgette) Palmer and Greg Palmer; sister Jena Lewis of Pensacola, FL; grandsons Palmer and Andrew DeArmond; granddaughters Jennifer (Trey) Miller, Staci Myrick, Lili and Addi Palmer; great granddaughters Maddi Welch, Mazzi Miller, Megan Miller, and Reagan Moss. Memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson on . Visitation is 1-3:00 pm. The service will start at 3:00 pm.
