Obituary: Rouland Eugene Persing, age 86 of Sturgis, MI passed away morning 25, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. He was born 15, 1929 in Sturgis, MI a son to the late Leslie and Daisy (Kimball) Persing. Rouland had been a resident of Sturgis most of his life except for a few years he lived in Florida and the winters he lived in Yuma, AZ. He was a graduate of Sturgis High School and attended Western Michigan University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was first married to Gitta Jepsen in 1954 and then in 1968 was married to Cayrl Poffenberger, both marriages ended in divorce. Rouland was the grandson of the original Popcorn Man William Kimball and owned the 2nd popcorn stand in Sturgis on Clay Street. He also worked for several years at Royeton Chevrolet in Sturgis and then at 1st National Bank as Vice President before retiring. retirement he delivered Motorhomes around the United States for Coachman RV. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, bowling, the Sturgis Civic Players, and was part of the coffee gang at McDonalds in the morning. Surviving are one daughter: Patricia (Randy) Tompkins and their children of Mendon, MI; nephew: Richard (Susan) Persing; 2 nieces: Bonnie (Donn) Anderson and Jackie Persing; and several other family members and friends including: Gitta Springer, Georgia Browne, and Carla Behrens. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin stillborn children, and 2 brothers and sisters-in-law: Stanley (Dorothy) Persing and Irving (Ruth) Persing. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M., , at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family s, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091. Services celebrating the life of Rouland E. Persing will be held at 3:00 P.M., , at the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Russell, officiating. Interment and Graveside services will follow in Oak Lawn with full military honors conferred by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Capt. John J. Kelley V.F.W. Post #1355. Obituary: Marianne Frances Persidskis, age 71 of Warren, died , 19, 2015 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb in Warren. She was born 28, 1944 in Highland Park, daughter of the late Thaddeus and the late Marie (nee: Obelnicki) Praski. For many years, the Vaive Wood Products in Macomb Township employed two special people, the husband and wife combination of Andris & Marianne Persidskis. In 1977, at an early age, Andris passed away,…leaving his able and competent wife to carry on in his stead. For over 44 years, Marianne proudly carried that torch and represented the company with the utmost in customer relations and dedicated service until an ultimate battle with illness compelled her to step down. Yet even amidst her absence, the impact she left behind forged a bond that it rarely seen in the workplace. At times, during challenging moments at the company, calling upon Mariannes expertise was not uncommon,…and for Marianne, a mark of her loyalty that always instilled her with a genuine sense of pride and accomplishment,…all of this amidst the challenge, and honor, of raising two beautiful daughters as a single Mom and widow. Marianne was a remarkable woman who was far ahead of her time. When work wasn calling, the Casinos often were. Yes, for a little escape and refreshment, Marianne was not a stranger to a bit of the casino experience and giving Ol Lady Luck a run for her money. Another of her favorite pastimes included traveling, and camping with the family. Getting out to see new places and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors were just a couple of the ways that Marianne allowed herself to be free and take in some of the special things of life,…which often had nothing to do with hings, rather making those special memories to last a lifetime. And for more of a personal escape, she was known for being quite the consummate shopper. Didn really matter what kind of shopping, she simply loved the access and freedom of going all in,…and coming out with an armload of goodies! Yet the sweetest goodies in Mariannes life came in the form of her loving family and friends without whom her journey just wouldn have been the same. This was especially so when it came to her precious grandchildren and the moments they shared together. Creating memories with them brought Marianne unspeakable joy. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Marianne poured the best parts of her heart and soul into every life that passed through hers, and it leaves an impact that will never be forgotten. Marianne touched and inspired the spirits of all who were blessed to know her, and she leaves a legacy of love for all to cherish with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Beloved wife of the late Andris, and longtime companion for 30 years of Doug Konieczny. Dearest mother of Cindy (Rob) Duff and Lisa (Curt) Shackleton. She is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren. Visitation for Marianne will be held 5-9pm and 2-9 pm, with a 7pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons , 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on from 11:30 am until time of the Mass at 12:00 pm at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 Twenty Three Mile Road in Macomb Twp.
