Obituary: Edna Ruth Parsons, 84, died , 17, 2016, in Hot Springs, after a lengthy illness. Born May 20, 1932, in Marianna, she was the daughter of the late Coley Marvin Evans and Clara Barton Scott Evans of Hot Springs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L. Gus Parsons, of Hot Springs; two brothers, Layton C. Evans, of Texarkana, and Dell G. Evans, of Sherwood; and by one sister, Eva V. Evans, of Hot Springs. She is survived by two sons, Philip (Sandy) L. Parsons, of Vista, Calif., and Stephen M. Parsons, of Hot Springs; two brothers, Bill S. Evans, of Sonoma, Calif., and John C. Evans, of Mansfield, Texas; one granddaughter, Crystal M. Parsons, of Hot Springs; three nephews and six nieces. A housewife who once worked as a salesperson in the jewelry department of Magic Mart and who also was employed at First Federal Savings & Loan, she was known throughout the community for her personal ministry to the sick and to homebound individuals, visiting local hospitals and care facilities and sharing her abiding faith with those in need of cheer and spiritual comfort. She was a longtime and active member of Temple of Jesus Name Church in Hot Springs. There will be a visitation for family and friends from 4:30-6:30 p.m., , 20, at Gross chapel. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m., , 21, at Gross with Brother Jerry Stewart of Temple of Jesus Name Church officiating. Melinda B. Gassaway will give the eulogy. Pallbearers will be Rick Dodd, Chris Hughes, Chuck Jordan, Sandy Walker, Mike Muldoon and Mark Thamer. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. and Mrs. James Humphreys, Ferman and Silma Bates, Stanley and Mary Jo Dodd, Lucille and Jim McMahan, Alex and Donna Smith, Rachel Heffernan, Lee Heffernan, Louise Harrell, Harriet King, Cecil Scott, Mollie Muldoon, Delores McClard, Matthew Muldoon, Melynda Gidcomb and Wallace Ballentine. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. The family expresses its appreciation to the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice, to the administration and nursing staff of Quapaw & Rehabilitation , and to caregiver, Susan Johnson. |

She attended Searcy First Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband, Danny Parsons; two daughters, Jennifer (Jeremy) Bowman of Princeton, Louisiana; Danielle Hill of Searcy; two sons of the heart, Erik (Daisy) Delaney of Thompson Falls, Montana; Chucky (Jennifer) Gray of Searcy; one grandson, Landon Hill of Searcy; one grandson of the heart, Chandler Gray of Searcy; her father, Steve T.
