Obituary: Del Allan Pagan, 62, of El Dorado, died , May 5. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daisy Joyner and Wayne Pagan. He is survived by his wife, Denise Pagan, whom he dated for 17 years and was married to 24 years ago, and his daughter, Hannah Pagan. He is also survived by a sister, Suzanne Pagan Kerr, his in-laws, Sylvia and Irby Watson, a sister-in-law, Deann Watson, a brother-in-law, Keith Watson, a niece, Ashley Kerr-Arnold, and her husband Greg, a nephew, Payne Roberts, and a great nephew, Andrew Arnold. Del was a native of El Dorado, a 1972 graduate of El Dorado High, a student at Arkansas State University where he was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity, and a life-time member of First Baptist Church, where he spent some of his happiest times as a member of the church choir. For over 35 years he was an employee at Lion Oil. Del will be remembered most for his soft and gentle spirit and his simple kindness. He was above all else a man of honor, whose loyalty to his family, friends and coworkers was about the only thing that really mattered to him. His greatest loves and source of contentment and peace were found in the water and music. Many hours of his life were spent playing or listening to music of all kinds- from jazz and classic rock to traditional church music. He seemed one with the water, whether it was on Lake Ouachita or sailing the seas. Early in life he was certified to captain small boats and considered doing it one of his greatest joys. He also became an accomplished photographer. His pictures always represented what he loved most: a beautiful body of water, an incredible sunset, an unusual flower, or his source of greatest pride, his daughter, Hannah. His many friends and family will miss most the guy who never judged anyone and never felt the need to criticize or find fault, but was usually pretty happy with just a tall, cold, Dr. Pepper, some great music, and a cool breeze off the water. Visitation for Del will be on , May 9, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Youngs . A service of celebration for his life will be on , May 10, at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of El Dorado. All friends and family are invited to attend the interment at Arlington afterwards. Memorials may be made to the South Arkansas Arts , 110 East 5th Street, or First Baptist Church, 217 W. Main Street, in El Dorado, AR. |
