Obituary: Sunny Pomerleau, 86 Waterville - Urania Sunny Datsis Pomerleau passed away on 7, 2016 in Westminster, MD where she had resided for the past six years. Sunny was born on 6, 1930, and was raised in Waterville, one of the five children of Steve and Helena Gunning Datsis. The Datsis family ran a thriving restaurant business and people today still rave about eating a Datsis Hot Dog. Sunny attended local schools and graduated from Waterville High School in 1948. She attended Radiology Technician School and then was employed at Squires Clothing and Sterns on Watervilles thriving Main Street. She married the love of her life, Roland Pomerleau on May 31, 1954 and enjoyed 53 years of wedded bliss, starting right from their honeymoon visiting Yankee Stadium. To say it was an experience to encounter Sunny and Roland at a restaurant or shop was a vast understatement. made the most of their time together taking little day trips throughout Maine and sometimes for a drive to St. Come, Quebec, to visit relatives and to buy some cheese. The seven hour round trip was worth it each and every time. Sunnys favorite job of all was as an inter-library loan librarian at the Colby library. She was there for 21 years and her circle of colleagues were interesting and nurturing, a true work family. It was sad day for sure when Sunny retired. Sunny had many interests and skills yet remained modest and instead chose to brag about others talents. People always felt better after spending time with Sunny, always. Sunny was a left -handed person in a right -handed world, and always figured out how to adjust and succeed. She loved working with her hands and figuring out how things worked. She was an expert seamstress, making stunning intricate clothing for her daughters and their Barbie collection. Her baskets were superbly woven and in demand by all. She loved swimming at her daughters camp on Salmon Lake, taking a daily dip in the summer months, always sporting a bathing cap, and prided herself on swimming in late . She also loved James Bond movies and marveled at all the cool gadgets, laughing aloud in that distinctive voice. She was a proud, devout convert to the Catholic religion, often attending daily mass, and was a member of Corpus Christi Parish and the Ladies of St. Anne and Rosary Sodality. She was also a volunteer for various local causes that benefitted hospitals, schools and veteran organizations. Sunny was predeceased by her husband Roland, her parents, her brother Jim and her sister Ethel Datsis Vigue. She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Breton (Daniel) of St. Simons Island, GA and Debra Lemieux (Robert) of Westminster, MD; her brothers John Datsis (Gloria) of Winslow; Pavlo Poppy Datsis (Doris) of Grandview, WA; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on 16 from 5 - 7 pm at Veilleux , 8 Elm Street, Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 17 at 11 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville. Burial will follow in St. Francis Catholic , 78 Grove Street, Waterville. Obituary: Steve J Pomerleau, 62, of Skowhegan, passed away on 4, 2014 after a long battle with cancer and heart complications. He was born in Harmony, 10, 1952, the son of Armand and Laureanne (Roy) Pomerleau. Steve attended Harmony School and completed his education at Skowhegan High School. Steve was friendly and very personable. During his life, he worked as a mechanic at Folgertys gas station, was a highly skilled woodcutter, worked as a truck engine account manager for the Caterpillar company, managed the Searsport Irving station, and was employed by Irving Tannery. Steve chose to revisit his childhood roots at the family farm in Harmony to provide round-the-clock care during his Moms last two years of life. Throughout his youth he belonged to 4-H clubs. He was an avid horseman who competed at horse shows on his mare Toni Jean. Together, they were a winning team. Steve had a great love for all animals; especially his horses and his dogs. He loved Nascar racing and had the opportunity of traveling to Daytona to watch this sport first hand. Steve is survived by his brothers, Bruce Pomerleau and his wife Gina of Lyman, Maurice Pomerleau and his wife Betty of Harmony, his sister Linda Cooley and her husband Jeffrey of Harmony, his nephews; Kevin , Greg, Dylan, Corey , Erik, his niece Teresa, aunts and uncles from Canada. Close friends: Edna and David and his beloved dog and best friend Brandi. Steve was predeceased, by his parents, grandparents, and two brothers, John and Francis. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated , 15, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame de Lourdes, Water St., Skowhegan Maine. are under the care of Smart and Edwards home.
