Obituary: AUBURN - Rene M Plourde Sr. of Auburn, ME passed away on May 6th at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born in Lewiston on 19th, 1930 the son of Luc and Alice Thibault Plourde. Rene attended local schools in Auburn. he entered the military to serve his Country in the United States Navy he married the love of his life Elizabeth Brooks on 4, 1952 and finished the United States Navy for 4 years serving in Korea. Rene was a 25 year veteran of the Auburn Police Department again choosing to serve his city that he loved so much. his retirement in 1979 he worked for 10 more years at Bath Iron Works in the security department until his final retirement. Rene was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 153 which he proudly let many people know with his favorite Post 153 hat. He loved to fish and hunt when he had the opportunity and gardening at his home in Auburn. He would spend time at his camp working on different projects both big and small. Most of all he was a loving, caring, protector of his family making sure that they knew they were loved and cherished. He is survived by 2 daughters Pamala and her husband Thomas Despain of Auburn, Elaine and her husband Gilbert Rivard of Minot, 2 sons Rene Jr and his wife Betsy Norcross Plourde of Auburn, and Paul and his wife Carleen Plourde of FL; a sister Rita and her husband Gil Menard of CT, 5 Grandchildren Christina Cifelli, Seth Rivard, Brittany and Jacob Plourde, Jarod Norcross Plourde; and 1 great grandchild Sienna Cifelli. He was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers Robert & Fern Plourde. The Family and Friends would like to specially thank the Androscoggin and Hospice for their compassionate care and two special Aunts Donna Scalia and Ruth Brown because without them none of it would have been possible. Obituary: Auburn - Raynold J. Plourde 76 of Western Promenade died 24, 2014 at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his family by his side. Born in Fort Kent 31, 1937 a son of the late Dennis & Marie Cyr Plourde he was educated in Auburn schools. He was lovingly raised by his foster parents, George & Annette Desmarais . He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958 and in the US Army Reserves from 1975-1979. He was married to the former Constance P. Sasseville Sept. 1, 1962. She died 18, 2014. Mr. Plourde was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul and worked at General Electric Plant until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, his family, his cat Sweetie and beloved Boston Bruins. Our dad will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and for being an amazing father and husband. He is survived by 2 daughters Christine Plourde-Rand and husband Aaron of Auburn, Lisa Mathieu of Auburn, his son Shawn Plourde of New York City, grandchildren, Abbie, Molly and Nevin Rand, his brothers & sisters, Priscilla Smith of FL, Harold Plourde and wife Debra of Lisbon Falls, Carlton Plourde, Robert Plourde both of Lewiston, foster sister Terry Moore, sisters-in-law, Claudette Verville and Constance Albert. He was also predeceased by his sister Cora Donahue, brothers Roger, Richard and H. Rodrigue Plourde. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Androscoggin Hospice House and C.M.M.C T -3 Dept. for the exceptional care and support they provided to our family.
