Obituary: Waterville - Teresa A. Plante, age 75, of 39 Barnet Ave, passed away peacefully on 19, 2011 at the Oak Grove in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Skowhegan, Maine on 1, 1935, the daughter of Roseanna Morin Jalbert. She was the devoted and loving wife of Joseph Plante whom she married on 29, 1956 at Notre Dame Church in Waterville. A loving mother and grandmother, she raised her family of four children while residing in Braintree and Peabody, Mass., Littleton Colorado and Franklin Mass. She fully supported her husband who worked at Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation. While she lived in Colorado she had many opportunities to travel extensively throughout the country, meet a diverse group of people and coordinate social activities for his office. She retired with her husband to Naples Florida in 1993 and finally settled back in Waterville in 2006. In addition to being survived by her loving husband of 55 years, she is survived by one sister, Cecile Grenier of Waterville; two brothers, Rosaire Jalbert and his wife, Theresa, of Lewiston and Marcel and his wife, Helen, of Vernon, VT; and six sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jalbert of Lewiston, Monique Jalbert of Auburn, and Madeleine Roy, Pearle Vashon, Carmen Plante and Carmel Pinnette all of Waterville. She is also survived by her two sons, Paul and his fiancé Lou Ann of Yarmouth, ME, and Thomas and his wife Susan of Waterford, CT; her two daughters, Celeste King of San Juan Bautista, CA, and Michelle Snicer and her husband Gregory of Fremont, NH; six grandchildren, Carolyn, Mark, and Benjamin Plante, Nicholas and Sean King, and Christina Snicer and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Arthur Jacques; three sisters, Antoinette Caron, Emerentienne (Rose) Jalbert and Helena Lebrun; and four brothers, Emile, Dominique, Robert and George Jalbert. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Easter , 24 at the Veilleux , 8 Elm St., in Waterville. Family and friends are also invited to attend a funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on , 25 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville. Obituary: Joseph Jean Marie Plante 1932 - 2013 Waterville \ Joseph Jean Marie Plante, of 39 Barnet Avenue, passed away peacefully on 20, 2013 at Inland Hospital in Waterville, Maine at the age of 80. He was the son of Dominique Plante and Marie (Ferland) Plante and was born in St-Evariste, Quebec, Canada on 28, 1932. He attended Notre Dame Institute in Alfred, Maine from 1945 to 1946, graduated from Waterville High School in 1949, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Maine Maritime Academy in 1952. Joseph had a distinguished career in engineering spanning 41 years. He served as a marine engineer for the United Fruit from 1952 to 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy aboard aircraft carriers from 1954 to 1956. He then joined the Bethlehem Steel in 1957 as a senior engineer and worked at their Quincy shipyard until 1964. He joined Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation, later moving to Denver with his family in 1974, where he eventually became the senior engineering manager at their Denver office. In 1988 he returned to their Boston office as the senior manager of projects. While at Stone and Webster, he worked on a variety of construction projects, which included nuclear, coal, geothermal and hydroelectric power plants. He was the loving husband of Teresa A. Plante, whom he married on 29, 1956 at Notre Dame Church in Waterville. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and he and Teresa raised a family of four children while residing in Braintree and Peabody, Mass., Littleton, Colorado, and Franklin, Mass. He retired to Naples, Florida in 1993 with Terry and permanently settled back in Waterville in 2006. Joseph was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He was intelligent, well-read, and loved a wide-range of music, including modern, classical, opera, folk and religious hymns. He was the consummate engineer and started a tradition that has produced three generations of engineers. Most importantly, however, his greatest joys involved his family, his friends, and his colleagues from Stone and Webster, where he maintained close personal relationships all his life. His main concern was for the welfare of others, and he always helped those in need. He is survived by one sister, Madeleine Roy, and two sisters-in-law, Carmen Plante and Cecile Grenier, both of Waterville; two brothers-in-law, Rosaire Jalbert of Lewiston, Maine, and Marcel Jalbert of Vernon, Vermont. He is also survived by his sons, Paul and his wife Lou Ann of Yarmouth, Maine, and Thomas and his wife Susan of Waterford, Connecticut; his daughters, Celeste King of San Juan Bautista, California, and Michelle Snicer and her husband Gregory of Fremont, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Carolyn, Mark, and Benjamin Plante, Nicholas and Sean King and Christina Snicer, as well as many dear nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, his parents, his two sisters Pearl Vashon and Carmel Pinnette, and his two brothers Germain and Rene Plante. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on , 1 at Veilleux , 8 Elm St., in Waterville. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on , 2 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 112 Silver Street, Waterville. Obituary: Steven T. Plant passed away peacefully after an 8 year battle with cancer on 30, 2014. He was born 5, 1966 to Wallace and Barbara (Baker) Plant in Bath, Maine. He was a graduate of Morse High School and Casco Bay . Steve was in the Seafood business, following the footsteps of his Father and Grandfather before him. He established Durham Seafood as a purveyor of fish and shellfish to fine restaurants from Camden to Kennebunk. He always said the pickiest chefs counted on him because he was equally quality conscious. selling his business he worked for Bristol Seafood in Portland as a salesman to distributors nationwide. Later he cleaned homes and formed a special kinship with his elderly clients from whom he drew strength and a special outlook on life. In 2002 Steve met his partner Gary Cressey and they were quickly inseparable. Together they settled in Scarborough where they had many close friends and neighbors who he loved dearly. Steve was a well-known collector of antique toys for years. He was always on the lookout for old Trucks, Cars and Fire Engines. He made his last purchase just days before he passed away. He loved automobiles both old and new and looked forward to the Owls Head Auto Auction each summer. He collected many books on cars and subscribed to numerous car magazines never tiring of them. Gary and Steve would travel to Florida twice a year for vacations to visit his Sister and her family, Garys Parents and special friends. A day at the beach was always good, and a trip to Boca Grande was the best. Anticipation of those trips to Venice FL and seeing the palm trees kept his hopes going through the worst of the ongoing battle with his disease and its progression. Steven was pre-deceased by his Father Wallace and a Brother Dale. He is survived by his Partner Gary Cressey of Scarborough, Mother Barbara Plant and her Partner Neil Page of Bath. Sister Sharon Preble and Husband John of Ponte Vedra, FL., Brother Dr. Larry Plant and Partner Larry Potter of Portland. Nieces Jennifer Preble, her twin Sister Erica and husband Dr. Marc Thorpe all of Jacksonville, FL. Brother Daniel Plant and partner Rita Bilodeau, Sister Deborah Desmond and husband Ed all of Bath. Sisters-in-law Jill Marston and her husband Rick of Brewer and Pam Meader and her husband Bob of Portland along with their children who loved Uncle Steve Steven wanted to especially thank Dr. Kurt Ebrahim and his staff workers DeeDee and Missy of the New England Cancer Specialists. Their years of compassionate care were so appreciated. A period of visitation for Steven will be held this , 5th from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins , 199 Woodford St. Portland; where a memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 PM.
