Obituary: Alice Marie Blankenship Pippin passed away on 18, 2016 in a local hospital. She was born on 4, 1936 in Artesia, California to John Guy, Sr. and Nellie Elizabeth Blankenship. Alice received her B.A. degree from Louisiana , and her M.A from the University of New Orleans. She continued her education at McNeese State University and became certified as an educational diagnostician. many years of teaching in various locations, she joined Pupil Appraisal of the Calcasieu Parish School, retiring from that position. Alice Pippin was a mainstay of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church where she was an active member until the time of her death. She lived a life of community service as well, and was serving a second term as regent of Calcasieu Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was hands on in providing charitable services to area veterans. Alice had been active in the Lake Charles Sail and Power Squadron since 1989, achieving the highest recognition/title Advanced Education Grade of Senior Navigator. She held offices as P/LT/C Squadron Education Officer and P/DLT/C District 21 Education Officer, and was Commander of Lake Charles Sail and Power Squadron in 1994. Alice Pippin was also active in Art Associates of Lake Charles, serving as president at one time. She was a free spirit who became a world traveler. Many of her trips were with Art Associates. Her most memorable journeys were her two trips to the Holy Land. In addition to service to community and God, fun was also in Alice's life. She loved to play bridge, to celebrate birthdays, and Mardi Gras. She and her husband were long time members of Krewe de la Famille. Later, Alice joined Krewe of Illusions, and was Queen in 2012. Left behind to cherish her memory is her brother, John Blankenship, two stepsons, Buford Pippin, Jr., and Henry Pippin, as well as three nieces and two nephews. She will also be missed by her beloved canine companions, Yorkies Clementine and Winston and a host of friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Buford Pippin Sr., parents, John Guy Sr., and Nellie Elizabeth Blankenship, a sister, Betty Murr, and a stepson, Steven Pippin. A memorial service will be held 30, at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Sulphur. Cremation was entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial .
