He continued practicing law until retiring in 2009. Following in the footsteps of his father who was an active supporter of the New Orleans Opera Association since its re-organization the 1940s, Mr. Panzeca retained the Opera Association as a client for 45 years, He became President of NOOA in 2005, just before Hurricane Katrina, and helped the organization recover during a time in which it was displaced from its presenting venue, the storm-damaged Mahalia Jackson Theatre for the Performing Arts. Prior to stepping down as President of the Association after four years, Mr. Panzeca was honored by having the 2009-10 season dedicated to him. Among other services, he spearheaded the fundraising efforts of Italian-American groups throughout the country with a large sum that was matched by the U.S. Government.
