Obituary: Evelyn Marie Poole, 91, of Onawa, Iowa, died , 5, 2017, at Pleasant View in Whiting, Iowa. services will be 10:30 A.M. , 10, 2017, at the First Christian Church in Onawa, with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland in Blencoe. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. , 9, 2017, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa. are under the direction of Rush Family Service in Onawa. Evelyn Marie was born on 15, 1925, in Onawa, the daughter of Emil Lee and Hazel (Huntley) Archer. The family lived in the Grand Teton Mountains near Riverton, Wyoming, where her father worked as a lumberjack. She attended school while living in Wyoming. The family later moved back to the Onawa area. Evelyn married Amos E. Bud Poole in Onawa on 15, 1946. To this union, seven children were born. The couple lived and farmed in the Moorhead area for most of their married life, and moved to Onawa in 1984. Bud passed away on 30, 1990. She was a hardworking woman all of her life, and raised her children while helping out with the work around the farm. She took care of the sewing, gardening, canning, milking cows, and feeding pigs, amongst several other duties. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, and of the local TOPS Club. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, crocheting, embroidery, camping, fishing, and traveling to all 50 states in the U.S., as well as many places abroad. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and was very proud of her large family. Survivors include her children, Albert Duane (Rita) Poole of Onawa, IA, Patricia (Charlie) Petersen of Council Bluffs, IA, Connie Halsey of Onawa, IA, Dennis (companion Delores) Poole of Onawa, IA, Danny (Carol) Poole of Honey Creek, IA, Kathleen (Tony) Gotto of Omaha, NE, and Darrell (Delila) Poole of Oklahoma City, OK; eighteen grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren and one on the way; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Carolyn) Archer of Moorhead, IA; a sister, Linda Broer of Onawa, IA; a sister-in-law, Janet Archer of Onawa, IA; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Schroeder of Norfolk, NE and Gene Broer of Turin, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Hazel (Huntley) Archer; her husband, Amos E. Bud Poole; one son-in-law, Donald Halsey; one grandson, Scott Michael Poole; one great-granddaughter, Carissa Poole; two brothers, Ted Archer and Melvin Archer; four sisters, Betty Schroeder, Margaret (Marvin) Edison, Nancy Broer, and Virginia Rose Archer; and one sister-in-law, Lois Archer.
